With the advent of Z68 coming up sometime soon (some are saying May), it appears a couple of manufacturers are throwing in LucidLogix as well with their boards. From my understanding, it's essentially nVidia Optimus technology for desktops, switching between onboard/discrete to balance power consumption, and still also allows overclocking like P67 boards. Neat.

What do you all think of Z68? Will it replace P67?

the differences from p67 to the z68 platform are even more niche than gaming computers as a whole. ssd caching and qucik sync are the 2 big benefits but realistically not many people would even take advantage of them. |

foot long gpus will be around for a while because yes that can be a cpu and gpu at once but it can't be a good cpu and gpu at the same time, just as sandy bridge can be a gpu... not a good one but one none the less.

By Q4, SB-E will be tearing up the streets. By 2013, Haswell will be nom-nom-nomming down SB-E for breakfast.

and you could say haswell will be crap 2 years later. People need to stop thinking about whats coming up and just worry about whats out now. There will be something always thats better coming around the corner. |

Well it all depends, if you have the money can can wait for x78, then why not.
Also I think ablah was making the same point you are, that every 2 years our cpu will be getting its butt kicked. As for haswell getting its butt kicked, you are right, Sky Lake and Skymont will see to that. Edited by DST4ME - 27 Apr 2011 at 2:16am |

If intel follows through with its plans, it appears so, dang new architectures every 2 years. I'm not planning on upgrading until Haswell though, as X58 just got phased out. For anyone making a current purchase though, it'd be wise to just get SB-E in my opinion, and wait out Haswell for Sky Lake. Skip a generation, or you'll always been wanting more.
