So, cloud computing differs from Microsoft's IE as in it offers you a browser that has no provided interface that forces you to mange the software? It's provided from a server and maintained on that end? Sorry for my ignorance on this, I just don't see what we're looking at here.

not sure what this whole thing is about, but if they want to have me store my bookmarks and such on their servers then I'm not using it anymore, right now it just a browser that is fast and very customizable and needs no plugins or third party extensions to do many things.

Actually cloud computing is kinda hard to explain. Best description would be that ... well.. there's no single hard drive somewhere with all the data. It's scattered amongst many nodes across a blanket of servers and somewhat by the net itself. Effectively you can still have the hard drive update the servers and send stuff to them, but the hard drive itself will be disconnected from the actual software in the nodes, thereby creating a safety net in case something happens and one way control of the cloud. Amazon is currently moving to a cloud setup to my understanding. The bulk of the data will be scattered and managed online while the important files and software remains seperate and safe on a hard drive somewhere. Did that make sense? Well.. it's like using the web as a hard drive and processor while you have the controls locked away in your calculator where no one can touch them.

It makes sense. What would be the benefit to me by using it over current methods? Or, does it benefit the provider more in how information is managed on their end?

Generally the provider. Most users (other than hackers with zombie nets ) don't have enough data or people accessing their software for it to be practical. However it could be interesting for operating peer to peer relays.
