Hello Everyone. I will be purchasing and customizing my pc threw Digital Storm most deffinately in January. I have been browsing threw the DS forums and also various websites on what would be the best system for me. Basically i am looking for everyones opinion on the build that i will most likely be purchasing, perhaps better ideas?

The things i want to do with this computer are strickly gaming, Nothing else really. At the moment i have a 19 inch wide gateway monitor but plan on buying a 22 or 24 inch acer in the future, not sure which resolution yet.

The only changes that would probably be changed on this build by january rolls around will be the OS and the Video card, meaning Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and either the new ATI/Geforce card. So anyways here is the build so far. My budget is 3,600 MAX.

Looks good to me! I have the tarantula right now, no complaints. I personally would upgrade to the corsair 1000w but digital storm certified should be fine. Also consider putting in a 80gb intel x25m g2 for your boot disk after you get it, should set you back around $250. Keep the 500gb HDD for the majority of your apps.

Definitely get a Corsair 1000w, but other than that the build looks good.

for gaming you don't need a 4.0GHz oc, you will not see any gain from it.

you don't need the led fans, they are loud.

and as venom said 1000w corsair

Here you go Ticket# 339673 --- Price: $3261 (To see this build click here) Price after current promotion $3011

that is not very true. There are way too many variables to say a blaket statement like that.
Depending on the game, the resolution, the GPU(s) Games can scale well past 5Ghz. if I had chips that I could test out higher than 5Ghz I would, but that is as fast as I have right now..  On the other hand, depending on the above variables, a game may not scale above 2.5 ghz..

I have one more question about the Hard drive. Right now i chose the 500GB western digital, would it be necessary to have the velociraptor at all? Is there a big difference in performance between those two for it to be necessary?

I originally was going to pick the velociraptor but because of the huge price difference i went with the western digital.

If it were me I would go with a WD 1TB and drop the raptor and 500gig.

raptor is faster then the 1TB, best thing to do is put the os/apps/games on raptor and then store files on the 500GB, you don't want a 1TB HDD for your os HDD, its too big and can become a huge pain to manage.

justin how much of a difference do you see in games from a 3.7GHz to a 4.0GHz? cause I don't see any difference even in games like crysis that would be more then a a few fps maybe like 4 fps.

below is not even 1900 x 1200 res which oc will make less of a difference in, now even at 1600 x 1200 it makes little difference,. look at the difference between 920 @ 2.66GHz and 975 @ 3.33GHz, now at 1900 x 1200 and between 3.7GHz and 4.0GHz the difference is even much less:

That is only a 10% difference in overclock so max you would see is a 10% gain in FPS in a game that was CPU bound. The min OC DS offers is 3.3 Ghz which would be around 20% possible gain to 4.0Ghz

Yeah i'm probably gonna just stick with a WD 500GB, The Raptor brings the price a little to much at the moment, maybe things will get a tad cheaper by january...lol

Heres my build so far. This is what i will go with when January comes. Though we'll see how the new GT300's turn out.

so again we are talking about maybe 4fps which is not a big difference and not worth $200. also if the game is already getting 60fps then you will not see any difference in the game from 3.7GHz to 4.0GHz, and at 1900 x 1200 with 2 gpus you will not notice any difference from the 4.0GHz OC as I originally stated.

@Born2rade, that build looks good

Just wanna say thanks to everyone for the tips and a big thanks to DST4ME :).
With some of the minor adjustments that i made i will be able to purchase a 22 inch monitor with everything. Hopefully the prices of the GT300's wont be too extreme because i really like the green team :).
