I would like an opinion on this build. I especially need help choosing a motherboard if anyone has any ideas. The price really isn't an issue.

I'm not really too familiar with overclocking, but I was told it makes the computer a pain to upgrade and very costly to repair.

Well you'll want a decent CPU cooler so you get a good overclock.

I'm not a fan of the HAF X, if you're not using some oddly huge motherboard then the HAF 932 will do as well or better for $42 less. But it isn't a big deal either way.

The EVGA x58 LE motherboard is great, no need to change it.

If you have budget leeway then add in a 40GB Intel SSD for OS/apps.

This is my favorite config for around that budget:

Overclocking has nothing to do with your ability to upgrade in the future. It can, however, potentially shorten the life of the CPU, which is why you want a good cooler.

Coming off of your newly updated initial post:
Many people here would recommend going with an EVGA motherboard but I've always had good luck with Asus.

12gb of RAM is overkill for 99+% of users, drop to 6gb unless you are doing massive video editing.

If you want a second 480 (which you'll need to run max settings on a few of the most demanding games nowadays) you want to get a 1200w power supply or higher - I recommend the Corsair AX.

It's your call, but I've never seen much utility in having two optical drives.

If you have decent speakers, consider a standalone soundcard like the Creative Fatal1ty. This is a very easy upgrade to do yourself at a later time, though.

Other users on these forums report the Zalman fan upgrade to be very loud. The stock fans should be just fine.

You are really shooting yourself in the foot if you don't get the free CPU overclock. It's pretty common for DSO to get the 930 to ~3.8ghz. That's a huge performance increase over the stock 2.8ghz for free.

Chances are you don't need Win 7 Ultimate and you probably won't even need Professional. Most people will be just fine with Premium.
