Hey guess what... I'm new here, I'm buying a DS rig, and I want help on getting the best out of my budget. Sound familiar? I'm sure it does...
Anyway, My budget is preferably under 2k, as a new monitor and other peripherals will put me over that mark since my current PC will now be my wife's dedicated facebook game machine (No, I'm not joking). I want this thing to scream for as little cash as possible. I plan on playing many future PC titles on it, SWToR being one, Skyrim, etc. The system will be primarily used for surfing and the like, and gaming. I do the occasional office type stuff, photo editing and web design, but none of which are terribly CPU intensive. No special needs really, although I hope DS can leave some HDD bays open so I can transfer a data drive into the case once it arrives, and have it all nice in pretty with their fancy cables. Here is my saved ticket from a build I made: 638695 Any changes? Suggestions? Unnecessary-ness? Let me know please. Thanks all, and god bless DS. Joe *EDIT* Well sh*te, I also forgot that I'm still sort of torn between the new AMD bulldozer's and Intel's I7's. Thoughts? Feedback? I've read several reviews and seen the benchmarks, but I'm not sure whether or not Intel is worth the price jump, as AMD's price/performace ratio is pretty amazing. Currently running 1600x900. Planning to buy a decent monitor capable of 1920x1080.

OK here is the deal, you can play this a few different ways.
first let me say this, for games like wow, swtor all you can use is one gpu, for games like bf3 you gonna want sli. for single gpu system you can look at ode 1, or we can custom config for you and it will be close to you max budget. ode 1 |

Generally I'll play BF3/MW3 on console for multiplayer. But I'll be playing Mass Effect 3 and most other titles on PC. So I guess what I'm looking for is something fairly balanced to play both MMO's and graphically intensive titles on as high as setting as possible, for as long as possible.
I realize SLI would likely be best to accommodate that, but couldn't I accomplish that with a single GTX 580 as well? I'm willing to go over 2k with new peripherals ( monitor, etc), so should I maybe shoot for ODE level 2, or a custom build with SLI? |

570 and 580 were it counts are like 6 fps apart, so no 580 can't come close to what sli 570 can do in a game like bf3, mass effect 4 I'm not sure if mass effect 3 will be able to get maxed out with one gpu or it will be like bf3 and need sli.
if you like what we can do is give you system that has one gpu but can do sli if needed, you drop in the second gpu down the road if ME3 need it. Thanks man. I've been banging my head against building this rig for weeks now. I just want to make sure I'm getting the best for my budget / wouldn't be better off building it myself. I'm taking a long hard look at this build you've laid out and I'll see if it all falls into place.
Thanks again DST4ME. |

You can build it yourself, however you will have to deal with ram, doa and etc, if you are up to it, go for it.
