I'm new here, and I'm planning on building a new system (hopefully to order soon). Budget isn't really an issue, of course I have no need for an $8K rig either. I'm looking for a good overall machine. Moderate to high gaming ability with the ability to accommodate the newer generation games as they come available. It will also be used for general productivity (CS4, office, etc...) with some being professional and most just for playing and convenience. I dabble in a little bit of everything. I plan to buy a HP ZR24w S-IPS monitor to go with this rig running at 1920x1200. Here is what I have come up with so far.
Ticket Number: 423777 Price: $2940 after savings Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 930 2.8GHz (Quad Core) Motherboard: EVGA X58 LE Edition SLI (Intel X58 Chipset) System Memory: 6GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 750W Corsair TX (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: Hard Drive Hot Swap Bay (EZ-Rack) Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (80GB Solid State (By: Intel) (Model: X25-M MLC Edition) (Extreme Performance) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (32MB Cache) (Model: Black Edition WD1001FALS) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer (Play Blu-Ray and Burn DVDs) Optical Drive 2: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 1.5GB (Includes PhysX Technology) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Creative Labs X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional (PCI-Express Slot Based) Extreme Cooling: H20: Stage 4: Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System: CPU Only H20 Tube Color:White Tubing with High-Performance Fluid (UV Lighting Reactive) Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (UV) (Creates Glowing Effect for H20 Tubes) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks Boost Processor: FREE: Stage 1: Overclock the processor between 3.3GHz to 3.9GHz (Cooling Upgrade Recommended) Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: Memory Fan Kit Only (Does not include memory overclocking service) Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate (64-Bit Edition) I realize that liquid cooling is overkill for this rig; however, I don't really want a monster heat sink dwarfing my board. It's mainly for aesthetics. Yes it is a lot to pay for mostly looks, but that's just me. At least I was able to talk myself out of the chipset and GPU LC. ![]() Windows ultimate I chose because of the language support. Plus, it's only a few dollars more. My g/f is not a native English speaker. I may some day allow her to touch this thing. ![]() Those are the only two real "luxuries" I added. Everything else has to do with performance. Please let me know what you think. Edited by h0gz17 - 21 Jul 2010 at 2:27pm |

I will be honest. I do not see anything that I would suggest changing in your configuration. For an all around system, you have what to me looks like a great build, especially since budget is not a concern for you, but your also not spending 8k.
If you have any questions, you can feel free to contact me directly, or even when you are ready to place your order, just let me know. |

when using liquid cooling, it is a very good idea to have he memory fan. there is just no air movement with the air cooled CPU cooler out of the picture. |

Thanks for the input everyone! And thank you to all the regular posters/experts on here. Even if you didn't say anything in this thread, most of this design is from advice and suggestions I've read in many other threads. I think I will have it built pretty much like this. I'm still debating whether or not it would be worth the extra $230 to up the SSD to 160gb.
Any suggestions on paint/lighting scheme? Right now, I'm thinking get the black interior paint, maybe add something to the exterior later on my own. As for lighting, I'm thinking a blue cathode in the bottom by the PSU, and maybe a UV up near the LC reservoir (or across the top) with blue UV liquid, white tubing with the coil looking things over them and hose clamps (if I can get them; they don't seem to be an option in the trim accents but do show you a picture of them). With the fans, I'm assuming that the front 230mm fan will be red LED as OEM from cooler master, and that the memory fan kit has blue LEDs on it (still gotta ask about those things). I'm hoping it's not too much light, but I think the black interior will soak up a little bit of that and focus it more on the components rather than the aluminum. I kind of stole the color scheme idea from another build that I saw on here. If you see this, thank you Rsxtacee (I hope you don't mind)!! That red/blue scheme looks awesome with this case!! I'm feeling the excitement. Won't be long now!!! |

yea id definitely go for black on the inside, it did great things for my case, see here:
as far as lights, i think red+blue would be a cool idea, i have both in my haf932 and they look pretty sweet together

Not too far off my own build, except I didn't go LC.
I went with a green cathode, though, so the lighting will vary: In a HAL9000/Cylon mood -- front red LED Feel like assimilating something -- green cathode Christmas! -- Both Just got my Stage 6 email today, so it won't be long for me, either. Let us know what you decide on (and pics, of course). |

The one thing I wish I had done when I ordered my PC was have them paint the inside black. I am still kicking myself about this. I guess it will give me an excuse to send it back for upgrades in a year or so.
