Hi all,

I'm looking for some feedback on the build that I have below.  On the whole, i'm going for a really solid gaming system that I can use for a couple years to come.  That being said...
  • I want it to look sharp and be quiet.  I wanted to get a fan controller, but it wasn't recommended to me if I'm going to have the system "silenced"...any thoughts?
  • I'm not sure if I have some features added that are overkill, is all the water cooling necessary?  Should I cool the chipset?
  • Are there benefits to memory overclocking?
  • Oh, and are the Radeon 5870 cards worth it?  I wanted dual Nvidia 295s...
  • If I can shave some money off and achieve the same or better performance, how can I do it?

Here's my build...

whats your budget?

whats your resolution?

with out the res we can give you under or overkill.

things to change so far

ram you wont notice the the 12gb stick with 6gb
change psu to corsair 1000 watt
x-fi cards have driver issues
scratch noise suppression your trapping noise in yes but heat as well
don't oc vid cards for the measly 7-10% it isn't worth the heat
drop os tweak
change win7 ult to pro

other then that great build just let us know the res so we can give you the correct gpu
2.5 Ghz Core duo
Nvidia 9500 gt
3 gb 1033 Mhz ram

if we can't answer a question shoot a e-mail here.

when you say quite what do you mean by that?

if you get lc the fans DS uses for the rad are kinda loud, if you get a fan controller for them you can lower them but then you get less airflow = higher temps = what is the point of LC then if the temps are not going to be good?

the way around it is to special order fans that are quiet and use them for the rads, that will cost a bit more money.

you have a lot of waste in there but as raif mentioned, you need to tell us your resolution and budget so we can see what your needs are.

Thanks for the feedback!

1920 x 1200 for the resolution
$5000 for the budget, and i'm a little over at the moment I believe.

I'd like to cut out the waste though, I just don't know what areas have the most waste outside of what you've mentioned...

Thanks,

-Jason
