Chris told me to go with 1600 MHz ram when OCing my cpu then the FSB will be 1600 MHz just like the ram is 1600 MHz

Thanks for the quick reply!
Yep that is the sound card I want! No, I will not be adding a second GPU, I see no point in SLI when I am only going to be playing at a 1680x1050 Resolution. |

Is OCing my RAM really that important?

I forgot to tell you, if you don't play around with OC settings yourself, then drop the OC on the ram instead ask them for the fan for the ram which should be around $20 bucks

Yeah, I don't plan on really OCing myself heh
But is that going to effect the amount of speed gained by CPU if I don't OC the ram? |

you have a better chance of a stable OC if you OC the ram but you don't need to.
so instead of spending $100 on 1600MHz ram you can spend 55 and OC your current ram and get the fan for it too. this way your ram oc is under warranty also its more of a prefernce here. Edited by DST4ME - 25 Oct 2008 at 2:17pm |

its talking about the difference of getting 1600MHz or 1333MHz if your stock fsb is at 1333. read thru, look at the charts on the second page and you will see the difference is so minimal you won't notice it. |

if you read the thread you will see that the 1600MHz ram is not necessary and has made no big difference the OC speed.
q9550's with 1333MHz ram have oc speed of 3.4 to 3.6GHz on this forum. q9550's with 1600Mhz ram have oc speed of 3.4 to 3.6GHz on this forum. q9650's with 1333Mhz ram have oc speed of 3.8 to 4.0GHz on this forum. q9650's with 1600Mhz ram have oc speed of 3.8 to 4.0GHz on this forum. the above speeds are all with liquid cooling this is all explained via math and charts in the thread I sent you to just like his 1333 fsb is oced to 1600 his 1333 ram can oc to 1600, and that is easy as heck cause its not much of a move up for a 1333MHz ram. if you read that thread you see you can even do the same thing with a 1066MHz ram also. You should really read that thread Edited by DST4ME - 25 Oct 2008 at 2:33pm |

I have talked to Chris on the phone and he said that if you don't choose to OC the ram, they don't touch any ram settings.
