Hey guys,
Due to some persistent problems Vista was giving my computer, I did a full wipe, reformatting the drive and doing a clean install. Unfortunately, that seemed to nuke my overclock.
I'm using the 680i LT motherboard, 800 mhz RAM, and a Q6600. How do I get that overclock back? It was originally at 2.7ghz, and I'd like to put it back there. Thanks!

You can call DS and they will walk you through it. Honestly though that is a very small overclock for a Q6600. I believe thats only a bus change from 266 to 300.

This should be as easy as:
System Voltages: CPU Vcore: 1.275 CPU FSB: 1.3V (you can try this one at 1.2V first) Memory Voltage: 1.8V for loose timings (5-5-5-15), up to 2.1V depending on RAM for tighter timings (4-4-4-12 or better) SPP Voltage: 1.3 CPU and Memory settings: Memory: expert FSB - Memory Clock Mode: linked ratio: 3:2 FSB (QDR):1200 Then set your memory to your desired timings, or simply leave it on auto. Follow the manufacturer's specs for your RAM to set voltage. If you're not sure what that is, run CPU-z and look at the RAM tab and it will give you voltages and timings if it is EEP equipped. Just do not exceed 2.1V on your RAM voltage on any NForce 6 based motherboard. |

I have a question....
lets say the normal is 2.9Ghz, now you decide to overclock it to 3.1 it's unstable but then you think hmmm I wonder if it's just all the timings that make it that way or whatever. then you decide to bump it up to see what happens. You bring it up to 3.3 and it ends up being stable. Is that even possible? Edited by Bigdog - 16 May 2008 at 2:11am |

of course it is
for a while the best i could get stable was about 3.1, but thats becuase i was only touching processor settings, vcore/fsb. when i tweaked the ram... well, you can see my sig. big changes

Thanks guys! Got the overclock back.
And yeah, 2.7 on a Q6600 is a bit low, but this was ordered back when DS was being somewhat conservative on the overclock's. Also, I'm told the 680i LT board is somewhat limited when it comes to overclocking, compared to the 680i A1 revision.
