newbie question: will doing a clean install of win7 erase the overclock DS did on my pc?

no, the Overclock is stored on the BIOS chip on the motherboard. So windows will not effect it.

save your oc in a bios profile. so you always have it saved and can get it back.

Installing windows will not change the overclock at all, it is not saved on your hard drive. you can save your overclock settings in the BIOS, but some times if you update your BIOS your OC settings will not work with your saved settings.

refer to your motherboard manual, in there it have step by step guide on how to save a profile and then enable a profile if your bios supports it.
