Looks like the industry is looking to update PCI-E. According to what ive read, they are going to double the bandwidth from 2.5 Gbps to 5.0 Gbps. It also seems that the final revision will be backwards compatible.

PCI-E 2.0 have already been finalized and released. The x38 and 780i supports it.

PCI-E 2.0 cards already exist with the 8800GT/GTS512 and the 3870/other one.

Eh. By the end of 2009 we'll be reading about PCI-e 3.0 with twice the bandwidth of PCI-e 2.0. I'll worry about the bandwidth gap at that point. |

Hmm I musta missed the date, and I wasnt aware that PCI-E 2.0 was out. Has it been shown to give a good boost over 1.0?
