I just ordered my 3rd GTX 280, and well i wont have room for a sound card unless i get a PCIe 1.0 for the top slot.
im debating between the Creative Labs SB X-FI Titanium Fatal1ty and the Asus Xonar D2Xany other suggestions ? or input on these cards. Thanks Edited by jtspectra2 - 06 Jan 2009 at 9:58pm |

Id go with the Xonar D2X just because ive had bad luck with creative's craptastic products.
Not to mention there customer support is terrible and it takes them forever to update drivers.
+1 Asus

The Xonar is my choice. Creative has too many driver issues and lacks good support. ASUS seems to keep updating theirs for now.

Do NOT buy an internal sound card!! You will just be wasting money. I have 3 GTX 280's and only had the vary top pcie x1 slot to put my X-FI Titanium fatal1ty pro SC in. The gpu's will cause the SC to get distorted and just shut off. You cant have a SC so close to a gpu(it will be touching it) or else you get interference from it and the only way to fix it is to use Mobo audio or use an external SC. I just got an asus xonar u1 external audio station and it works vary well But now I have a brand new X-FI SC that I can not even use just sitting here. you can try it but it will just end up being a waste of money!!!!

ASUS cards utilize better EMI shielding and their upcoming Xonar Essence further shields the analog output from the card's own digital circuitry. Still, the nVidia cards may be putting out a heck of a lot of digital noise if they didn't control their emi via decent architecture and grounding.

widdlecat Do you know what kind of software ASUS supports for it's card? I am mainly interested in the handling of soundfonts for midi playback. Just learning, on al old creative audigy, how to create and load different instruments. |
