DS SAYS YES IN THE ADVICE AREA , OTHERS SAY NO ,  I DO NEED MAX AIR FLOW BECAUSE OF LOCATION FOR PC , NOT OPEN AIR .

You can ask this all in your config thread, you don't have to keep making new threads.

Hi Glen,

I know you must be excited about ordering a new DS computer. You will get much better help if you ask all your questions in one thread. It makes it much easier to help you.

You seem very concerned with the amount of air flow you might have to cool your system. Moving air is important but the ambient air around the computer is important too. You need a good intake but you also need a way to exhaust the air. You can't put your computer into a cabinet and close the door and expect it to operate at low temps. I am not saying you are doing that, just an example.

Why don't you show us a picture of what you are dealing with.

Frank

thanks frank .  / ignore  ironmb .... its just a typical computer desk with a tower  " slot " , but its crammed in a washer dryer room of an apartment , pretty sweet setup , but it gets warm in there, ive had alot of heat problems with my current system , top of line 4 yrs ago , but solved that with  a nice zalman heatsink upgrade ... all a learning experience .   im just trying to get info so i can make my own decisions , and im sure alot of others would like that too ,  excuse me if im in the  wrong area , it makes sense to me to ask basic config choices in the config area . since the configurator  , wants to know what  type cooling etc. ,   it says " here, get performance fans ! "  , it sounds good , but then everyone says you dont need them , too noisy ,  but DS  faq says you do . what to do what to do Confused

@GLENN2525, if don't ask your questions in one thread, you will not get proper advise, there are too many people on this forum to help and keep up with, if you keep opening new threads we can't keep up with your special situation and that will lead to us telling you something that might not work for your special situation.

Good luck, don't feel bad, we all had to start somewhere since you are new, then I might as well let you know what opening many threads instead of posting in one thread frowned upon on the net, that goes for any forums you visit.
