I was wondering why my PC gets a simmilar 3d mark 2006 score to one that seems to me to be inferior. Here are the specs
mine
AMD 9550 2.2 GHz quad
Nvidia XFX GTX 260
ram 4GB 667MHz

other
3GHz pentium duel core
8800GTX

As far as I know the tests were preformed in the same way without OC.  Is it because 3dmark 06 does not utilize 4 cores? I'll find more specs if needed
Thanks for the help

Intel Dual Core @3.0 is going to bench better than your AMD @2.2. The extra cores help a little, but not much with 3DMark06.

I would think your combo would outperform his with the faster videocard, but not by a wide margin.

My combo is worse by about 1000 marks.

You're not running at a high enough resolution for your GTX260 to show it's true muscle if you're running with the free version of 3DMark. The default resolution is so low that it becomes a matter of winding up your CPU clocks as far as you can, because the CPu is *going* to be the bottleneck at 1024x768. Buy the $20 version of the program, crank the resolutions and AA/AF up and see what the same test says.Wink
