Will using a Nvidia physx card with your ATI help benchmarks like stone giant and heaven?

Physx can only help with things coded for it, most games/benchmarks are not. 99% of the time the answer is no. Physx is a marketing tool, not actually usable for nearly all applications.bat man, and mirrors edge, will benefit. bout it

OH ok thanks. I did a trade with someone online for a gtx 9800 and I wondered if it would be a good idea to use it as a physx card but you helped me answer "no." I'll just put it in another system.

I read somewhere that Nvidia is dropping support for Agea Physix card. Even Nvidia themselves have started to give up.

Yeah i thought about this before; that this tech wouldn't be needed long. When you consider all the new games are console games and not very demanding. Seems like hardware is way out pacing the games anyhow so the normal features of a card would be enough to get out of the game what you need. And an add on technology like this would fail because it isn't really needed.
EDIT:
I need to research more cause after reading this I'm a bit confused on what physx, ageia are and what is exactly stopping lol. Edited by AndydViking - 07 May 2010 at 12:32pm |

Well, Nvida bought Agea mainly for the software, not the hardware. The fact that consentrating on the 'general processors' on the video cards with multi multi-processing units that can be programmed for different purposes allows for the 'physX' abilites. As far as hardware is concerned it is the ability to handle vast numers of objects quickly. That is why in a lot of games, some object are breakable and others are not. It's up to the gamers to find the balance of how real it can be versus how fast the card can perform the tasks.

remember that most games use physics, just not many use physx. Havoc and other physics engines work on ATI or Nvidia systems.

Justin this is off topic but I thought I'd ask you while your online. Is the scaling good with a 5870 and 5830 in crossfire? I'm betting no but thought I'd ask.

That stinks. It'll be coole when you can buy a top end card and then buy more of budget card to crossfire/sli when you just need or want that little bit more and have it scale near 100%. if that ever happens.
