Had a question for you all...

If I get a 8800GTX (SLI later on) do I need to get a PhysX Card for more detail or just need the single 8800GTX?

Thx
RW

A PhysX card is a completely different engine that only works with PhysX enabled games.  For a complete list of games that are PhysX ready, visit http://www.ageia.com/physx/titles.html

You can do a SLI configuration without a PhysX card.

the 8800gtx already has a physics processor built in it.  Sure the Ageia card would add more detail and more physics but there isn't a lot of support for it yet

PhyX cards are a joke dont buy one. Like 5 computer games can even use them... none of them need one.

True, your better off putting that money into a different component inside your machine. If you haven't selected one already, a Quad-Core would be a good choice. Future games are going to take advantage of all the cores for A.I., physics, and other advance calculations.

I dissagree I don't think PhyX cards will ever be used for many games.

It is hard to get breakthrough technology started.  That being said, PhysX would be a great asset to the gaming computer as it would allow CPU and GPU to focus on other areas of rendering and so forth.  By the way it looks so far, this type of engine might be going the wayside unless more game developers get on board.

I really think they'd get a whole lot more developers onboard if they could get Nvidia and/or Intel to integrate their chip on some of the higher performance motherboards.

Don't get PhysX. It's basically a scam. I wouldn't pay that much for something that only gets used if VERY few games. Plus the 8800GTX has it's own PPU
