Alright so i think this is my third time posting, don't hate me lol.
I'm almost at my goal and school is over in a month. My budget is 2000 and under. I'm looking for a computer than can play MMO/FPS and can also do video editing for stuff like this: www.youtube.com/davoo23p It should be able to handle fraps and i'll be using a single 1920x1080 but the computer should be able to handle 2. I know this is annoying but if you guys could help me out i'd really appreciate it. |

Hi davoo23... Welcome back. Your questions are no problem at all. Trying to get the best for your money is the way to go.
For your budget, you can't do much better than the ODE lvl 1 or lvl 2. They both game the same but lvl 2 has the 3770k cpu for a little better performance for most tasks, but not so much for gaming. If there's something about the ODEs that don't do it for you, then here's a custom build to look at. Config # 809734 Cost $ 1828 Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i5 3570K 3.40 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 (Intel Z77 Chipset) (Features Thermal Armor and Thermal Radar) System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 800W Corsair GS (Dual SLI Compatible) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD-R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 24x / CD-Writer 48x) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 670 2GB (Includes PhysX) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 Extreme Performance H20 Tube Color:- Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: - No Thanks Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory Boost OS: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: FREE: Digital Storm T-Shirt - Black (Large) Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty
This config will game the same as the ODE 1 or 2 but has the better HafX case, a better psu with longer warranty over the ODE 1 and the better Noctua D14 cpu cooler, over either ODE.. The Sabertooth mobo is also better with a 5 year warranty over either ODE and able to sli if needed. For the money, ODE is great. This build ,for more money, gives you better components but nothing wrong with ODE. Hope this helps.

Yeah man this helps a lot thanks! Bro i have a few questions though, does i5 from i7 affect performance? is 670 a huge difference from 680? and do you think saving a little more for the ODE lvl 3 would do more justice?

No difference in gaming between 3570 and 3770. The hyperthreading in the i7-3770k does help a bit with most apps, but little for gaming.
The 680 is about 5-10% better frames than 670, but alot more $$ . This build I showed you is better than the ODE 3 as far as case, cpu cooler and a motherboard able to sli in case you ever wanted to. The ODE 3 does give you an SSD, bluray player and more ram and the gtx 680 for about $250 more. Gaming only needs 8gb ram but the rest isn't bad for the added money. If you don't care about an SSD and Bluray player then this build or the ODE 2 is all you need. DS makes the ODE lineup tough to beat.

Nice man! will your build also be effective for video editing? Like sony vegas stuff and using fraps?
I'm sorry i'm hella slow when it comes to computer hardware haha. Edited by davoo23 - 06 Apr 2013 at 11:22am |

I'm not sure of those programs. The only unknown is the cpu and ram in my setup. The Hyperthreading with video editing depends how much you get into. I would guess the i7-3770 would help with editing and the 16gb ram might also.
If you feel those apps can use the added threads and ram then the ODE 3 gets more appealing for sure. Plus, the SSD will help with load times, etc. The mobo can't sli but with the 680 you probably won't feel the need. I would go to the forums that talk the apps you use and see if hyperthreading and more ram is what they suggest. |

I would just like to add, that just because the i7-3770 and larger ram might help, if budget is tight, and we can all relate, the i5-3570 with 8gb ram will still get your editing, fraps, etc. done in style. Sometimes spending hundreds more for several % quicker performance isn't worth it.
Budget vs needs can be a fine balance. |

for 1950$ you can get the lvl 4 Bolt with an OC'd i7 and a GTX680, a really good mobo and power supply, as well as an SSD. All in a great little package.
