Hi,

I am a caveman thinking of upgrading a 6 year old GPU from my Vanquish Lv. 2, bought in 2013.

You guys helped me last time with upgrading the HDD to a 1 GB Samsung SSD EVO. It helped a ton with boot time and gaming. I was wondering if you guys could do it again.

I need GPU recommendations based on specs below. I just want the top 3 highest GPU that my CPU can work with (i.e. without GPU being limited by my CPU power, bottle necking???)

I briefly read that a lot of factors are considered (power output, CPU bottlenecking, etc) but I just want to know the GPU options.

I only need it to play Dota 2 on a 1920x1080 60Hz monitor. If the limits are great after the upgrade, I might also upgrade my monitor to a bigger hz. Right now I get 80 FPS on Dota 2 with the lowest settings but it dips to 55 in big team fights (lots of animations with spells, etc). I want at least 70 all throughout and if it's even doable, on better graphics settings[medium or high].

You are not asking for the moon here in performance, but unfortunately every serious GPU upgrade I could recommend would be significantly bottlenecked when paired with an older 2 core/4 thread CPU.   That means you could take a performance hit of as much as 30-40% of the newer video cards ability to deliver it's top framerates.   That would not be a very wise investment in my opinion.   Any newer card I would recommend for consideration would also need you to upgrade your tiny PSU to a newer one of 700w or more as it is.

You could add some DDR3 RAM for 16 GB RAM and have max RAM on for gaming.   Sorry my friend but that's about all I would consider reasonable on this rig.   Save for a new DS rig that will exceed your goals.

Thanks. Makes sense. I guess I'll have to treat myself big coming holidays season.

My Vanquish 2 was upgraded with a GTX1070 and it is still going strong. Probably get another 2 years out of it...
