Hey guys,

I've been a PC gamer for as long as I can remember, and have built my last two rigs, but have always been unimpressed with my skill at doing such. This time around, I've decided to entrust a large sum of money to the right company to make me something special. After doing extensive review, I'm 100% sold on Digital Storm to be that company. Honestly, a lot of my decision comes from the great responses and activity on these forums, so I'm reaching out to you guys to help build me a beast within my budget.

1. I'd like to keep the cost below $2600 if possible. However, that being said, if what I'm looking for in a rig make that impossible, please feel free to recommend accordingly.

2. I'll be using this computer exclusively for gaming! (however, I'd like to have a Blu Ray drive) My library is primarily FPS (Black Ops, Far Cry 2, Borderlands), but I enjoy a good RTS like Starcraft quite a bit.

3. This will be used for one-monitor set up @ 1080p on a 2.1 audio system. I also have headphones which can be used for better audio. As a musician, sound quality is VERY important to me, but don't overdo it considering I'm not planning to expand past a 2.1 system. Depending on the rig, should I add a second stronger monitor?

4. I'd like a computer which will run as quiet as possible, while maintaining a lot of power. I'd love to go all out and get liquid cooling. Also, a case that has a side window (so I can see all of the expensive components) would be great. I've had my eyes on the Black Ops Assassin case with the 90-degree MOBO flip...

5. Lastly, I've always used EVGA for my graphics cards. Is EVGA the standard card supplier for Digital Storm? Also, what is the consensus regarding one strong card (like a 580 GTX) vs. SLI?

Thanks in advance for the help, guys!  Awesome

1. ok we will try.

2. ok got it

3. for your res single 570 with option to go sli if needed is what we recommend.

4. pc is quiet, but 90% of your noise comes from gpu's fan when under load, the only way to get rid of that is to put gpu on LC, your budget does not allow it. Blackops are more expensive and there are better cases then the assassin.

5. you can request what you like, evga is a good brand.

rule number one in gpu is always go with the single card solution when possible. sli is only need if your games needs it to run at highest settings and high aa, in short if you are asking is it better to go sli 560 vs single 580, then my answer is no, of course that depends on teh budget, but in that example going with one 580 with room for a second is much better option then sli 560.

also your res and requierments of games and the settings you like to play the games at all are deciding factors on if one needs sli or not.

Awesome. You are the man! This set up looks great, but I do have 3 quick questions.

1. Is there an obvious difference to upgrade the RAM to Corsair Dominator 8gb?

2. Will the onboard MOBO audio be adequate, or should I get a Creative sound card?

3. Is the Noctua better than one of the Stage 2 Liquid Cooling options?

Thanks again for ALL of the help!!!

1. not at all

2. I'm not a sound expert that is why I didn't comment on that part, however having talked to some experts and users, everybody agrees that if you want sound quality, you want a sound card.

asus or creative or etc, I don't know, that is something you should ask the guys in the hardware section, just make a post and simply ask for sound card recommendations, we have some good guys over there, I'm sure you get teh info you need.

3. yes, we don't even recommend stage 2 LC cause:

a. they are not real lc systems, as in they don't give you real lc performance.

b. good aircoolers like the a70 and noctua will give the same performance or out perform them.

Our pleasure

Ok, so it sounds like the monitor's resolution is going to be the real limit for a system. If I'm keeping my monitor at 1080p, what would the ideal gpu scenario be? Just one GTX 570? Step up to 580? I don't want to be wasting system power, but I do want to make sure I can max everything out at my resolution.

The res you want to run on your monitor is its navtive res.

if the native res is 1900 x 1200/1080, then best case is going with one 570 but have sli ability, in short a mobo and psu that can do sli 570.

where it counts at your res, the difference between 580 and 570 is around 4 to 8 fps, so going from 570 to 580 isn't gonna make a huge difference.

somethings can't be maxed out no matter what you got, sli 570 can't max out metro, nor can sli 580, they will do pretty much the same on it.
