Budget:
$4500 - $5000 Expectations: Mostly work related stuff. Son is new to VR and might play on it. Plan to add 3 monitors to it and good sound speaker. I am not a specialist so any feedback will be very helpful. It took me forever to come up with this specs and I dont know if I did a good job. No idea about motherboard or processor (AMD vs Intel) If I can make improvements and stay around this budget please let me know. Thank you very much in advance. Usage: Work, Web, games Special Needs: a quiet environment - not too loud from the fans etc. Not running too hot. It stays on 24/7 should should be able to handle that. This is not a gaming rig. You don't say what kind of work you are about, but DS techs are often more help for heavy computing power like this. You tell them what you want it for, and they help you choose what goes in there.

Thank you Cretae! My work is morstly related to microsoft products. PPT, Excel, Word Projects. Losts of online meetings. I did ask the customer service to help and rate. I got alot of "it all depends what you like' With this one I was told it is a solid build. I don't know where to go from here. Can anyone please help me in the right direction? Maybe help with a configuration where I would get the most for the money? I am almost 50, so just don't have the hardware expertise needed to do this right. Please help!

It is a solid build. It's not base model this and that, but there is no glaring overkills or necessary upgrades you missed. I think as you accustom yourself to the speed and power available with this rig, you will be well pleased. The responsiveness from the NVMe SSDs must be experienced to be believed.

Welcome to DS. Like Cretae posted (and he is the One), that is a solid build. Some comments: you mention using 3 monitors; do you know their resolution? That 3080 is a good card but it does have its limits. And; did you know that the Velox is a right window case (looking at the front) and the mobo is installed upside down with the gpus on top? It is a DS exclusive proprietary design and very spacious. Enjoy. |

Thank you very much for the feedback! It is very helpful and makes me feel better. The SSD looks like they are in Backlog, so hopefully that will not hold up the build to much. Maybe one more question before I order. I think this will fit in the Lumos box as well. Is that a better box for this build? All I was worried about was heat and therefore went with Velox. Will both be quiet?
Once again I just want to really thank you for taking time to help me out. It is greatly appreciated. |

Sorry - I missed the question. I have not bought monitors yet. I was thinking to get 2 monitors first. One primarily for work so it does not have to be that special. The second for now should be a little better or maybe the same as the other one. I don't think I need top of the line for now. The 3rd monitor down the line (later) will probable be a great one. and the third monitor. I was hoping to spend no more that $1K on the 2 monitors for now as the PC already went over budget and I have some catching up to do. If you have any monitor advice or recommendations please let me know. Also you mentioned that the card has limitations. Would it be better to change the card to something else? Again - I am not a super gamer.
Thank you! Erik |

The thing with multi-monitor set-ups is that 95% of the time one monitor is doing all the work while the other two just have to present a static image. That is not as hard a trick to pull off as it might seem.
It seems to me the more enclosed form of the Velox would be a bit quieter, but no one's complained about loud Lomoses. I would choose wisely as to monitors. there are plenty of high-performance 1080p panels that would do just fine at far under $500 each. Then you could save for a high refresh rate 1440p monitor for your gamer. |

YOUR SHOWING 64GIGS OF RAM AND THATS KIND OF OVERKILL WITH ANYTHING YOU BE DOING WITH THIS SYSTEM.32GIGS IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR THIS SYSTEM AND YOUR CHOICE OF THE 3080 IS A POWERHOUSE OF A CARD AND WILL BE MORE THAN CAPABLE OF A MULTI-MONITOR SETTUP PLUS IT WILL DO 4K WITH ONE ARM TIED BEHIND IT'S BACK.
