at that price range with dso its really hard to go wrong, the only upgrades you may consider, based on how much youre spending, is
a solid state drive, not something i consider needed but its probably going to be your only bottleneck with a killer set up like this one
or, perhaps a more helpful upgrade could be a network card. ive never personally used one, but ive read some reviews that seemed to like them. again only suggesting it because everything else is so powerful, your connection could actually become your bottleneck
dont forget your free game and tshirt at the bottom!
also you may want to go for windows 7 home pro based on what ive read around the forums
im really more curious about your peripherals at this point, what are you looking at for monitor/mouse/keyb/headphones? Edited by !ender_ - 27 May 2010 at 8:47am |

Not quite sure on what monitor I wanna get. Any good suggestions would be great. As for keyboard and mouse I think im just gonna go with razer's products. I have read a little into the network cards and I just cant justify the price for the minimal performance.

i think if it were me i would spend the little extra money on visual frills instead of a ssd or network card. i dont think either is really worth the price. as far as monitors, lots of the fans ive seen posting are in big support of the flashy ips monitors for thier "true color value" and massive price tags. in my opinion, get yourself a samsung or acer 22+ inch 70hz+ and you cant go too wrong.. no need to go over 300 to get a good quality monitor if you get some ideas and dont know the details you need to pick between them just make a post and we will iron it out for you. razers makes good stuff but you should check out roccat they make some very good looking and very nice performance items. thats what i use

Ok, I obssess on here often enough that I can think of a few things to tweak and mention you may want to consider. You have money to spend so lets focus that money on performance first. With your budget lets assume you can afford a great monitor because if your spending this much on an amazing system then you are selling yourslef short not getting one. Check out dell Ultra sharp IPS panels 24" 1920-1200 resolution
If the money is there 5year warranty parts/labor is amazing.

let us know what resolution you will be using so we can determine what gpu u need.
we wil also need a budget for your computer and monitor. please put both seperate we also need a detailed list of games you play and want to play. do you have any preferences on anything? once we have all this information i can design a kick butt rig for you. until we have the info we are really just shooting in the dark here. if you need help choosing a monitor we can help. or if you want to look your self make sure the monitor has identical vertical and horizontal viewing angles greater then 170. that is a sign of a ips panel which is more expensive but it has better picture quality then it cheaper tn counterpart. the monitor is the window to the digital world... if you don't get a good one you wont be happy. |

Allow me to submit the HP ZR24w @1920X1200 for your consideration. A full review here: http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/reviews/hp_zr24w.htm
This monitor is knocking my socks off. It's better than my CRT which is no kind of cheapie. The color, clarity, resolution, and brightness is striking. It can be had for just under $400, and I am SO glad I didn't "save" $100.

well since hes going to build a kick ass rig like that lets just assume he'll get at least a 1900x1200 ips panel
Gpaint said most of the things u gotta change you should def get the 160g intel ssd for first hdd and second a 1tb hdd would be good enough. i would suggest 2xsli 480's also. dont upgrade the fans, heard they real loud and annoying, add memory kit, dont OC video card, your eyes will not notice the difference during games and if you are going to change to 480's they already run really hot in sli and OCing it wouldnt be worth the extra heat and energy, Dont tweak the OS either, the system runs extremely fast either way and you wont notice a thing if you do tweak it or not Other than that it would look like this, idk about the sound card and network card but yea not much difference id say for network card but sound card you should get if u use headphones. Heres the biuld id recommend for your budget. Mr. Hooked you up! Thats an extreme rig. It very similiar to what I'm ordering this summer though I'm going only one 480 out of concern for my electric bill:P
You blink and you'll miss the load screen! Graphics on a nice IPS will be so real its sick!

you don't really need the LC it is more of a luxury. the stage 2 noctua will do very well and a haf 932 case.
everything else is perfect for a high res machine this can do 1920 x 1200 - 2560 x 1900 |

Grizzly we need to know your res before we can help you, 2 x 480 is overkill for 1900 x 1200, unless you want to play crysis or metro.
