This computer would be used mostly for gaming. Also be used for editing photos in Photoshop. Of course a little web surfing. But mostly for gaming. Im almost 54 years old and I'm a gaming fanatic!!! This rig would need to play games such as Farcry 2 & 3, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 & Fallout New Vegas. Plus it would need to handle future games that will demand more from a computer. First off I would like to thank everyone who made suggestions on the first build I put together. Also thanking everyone who took the time to patiently explain things to me and answer my many noob questions. My orginial budget was $5,500.00. But after reviewing everyone's comments, I decided to up the budget. So I'm borrowing $2,000.00 from my 401K retirement account and as soon as the loan is approved and I deposit the check, this rig will be ordered. I know all the lighting is eye candy, but what the heck, it sure is sexy. I might change the tube and fan color before I order. Depends on what graphic I choose for the laser mark service. And that leads me to my next set of questions. I watched the video on the laser mark service. Pretty darn cool. What I would like to know is how big of a graphic can you have? Or is it whatever the graphic you choose will be the standard size the etch on the computer. The Battlefield 3 soldiers looked as if there was a great deal of detail in it. How does the BF3 soldiers look with the interior computer lights on? Can DS laser mark my favorite motorcycle bar and shield with that motorcycles name in it? I'm thinking of a graphic I want but dont know if DS could do it legally due to copyright laws. Configured as is, will there be room for future add on's and upgrades? Finally, all you tech savy computer guru's, please look over this build and tell me if everything is compatable. |

Another question. Can I order computer now, paying for 2/3's of it to start the build then when the loan I'm taking is finally deposited pay for remainder of computer so it can be shipped? This way i could order now and not have to wait the approxmately 2-3 weeks before loan is deposited. Just curious because present computer finally died tonight.

Looks like a sweet build. Since your mobo can only support 2 GPUs, you can downgrade your PSU to either the Corsair 1050W or SilverStone 1000W. And unless you get lucky in the silicone lottery, the 4770K may not clock that well above 4.4 - I had mine originally at 4.5 but was only stable about 1/2 the time when playing games. Ended up putting it down to 4.4 and no issues since.
The Lasermark is really nice and have one on mine (I did all the creation for them so not sure what they can do or make for you). My interior lighting doesn't shine behind it all that well so it's a little hard to see - been meaning to add some additional lighting to allow it show better but just haven't had the time... Look at my review and you can see parts of it. I'll see if I can get a better pic tomorrow when I have some time (It's a a larger version of my avatar)... As far as payments go, that's something you'd have to work out directly with DS on. Good Luck!!

fstcvc, I had come across your review about two weeks ago while trying to figure out what company was going to build my new rig. DS should give you a % of the money I am going to spend in the very near future because it was your review that finally tipped the scales and made me decide to go with DS. Also, after looking at your set up it made me think how great it would to be able to play NASCAR Racing 2003 Season. I think that was the best racing sim ever!!!
BTW, I love your set up. I saved the last two pictures in your review and message all my gaming friends and send those two pics and tell them I wish I had this bad ass set up. Would love to know where you got the set up from. Also want to thank you for your help and advice in a previous thread. It was very informative and helpful. About the PSU. I had upgraded from fear of not having enough power. Your saying I could downgrade to the Corsair or the SilverStone. I'm sure both are good, but if this was your rig, which one would you choose? After reading your many posts through out the forums I have become a fstcvc groopie!!! Or maybe it's just because I am so envious of your set up. Anyway, thanks again for all your help. |

fstcvc, if I'm not mistaken the lighting system I have chosen says I have to have that MOBO. Is there another MOBO offered that supports 3 GPU's and the lighting system?

Would the interior lighting still be an option if I upgraded to the Extreme VI?

When I started out I was only going to use 2 780s but then changed to 3 Titans after reading some reviews on running the triple monitor setup and thought I'd play it safe with as much HP as I could get...
I originally was going to use the Corsair 1050HX but the SilverStone is fully modular and Gold rated (better efficiency). If you haven't already read my ramblings while trying to decide what to actually get and constantly changing it along the way, you can see I had started with something very similar to your current build. I realized just after posting here, that there was another discussion about your build.
As far as my gaming cockpit, it's an Obutto R3volution that I got from MainPerformancePC along with a triple monitor add-on. The controls all came form Fanatec (it's their ClubSport line). Just got the SQ Shifter and just need to figure out how I want to mount it. It's definitely a setup that I've always dreamed of having (short of actuators to add movement). I'm thinking of adding a ButtKicker Kit and wiring up my speakers for surround sound.

Sorry for all the back and forth. My Alienware MX18 took it's last breath earlier today and now I have to use my smart phone to get to the forums then back to my build, then back to the forums, etc..... Not like having a computer and having several pages open at one time. Frustrating to say the least. And I'm really cranky (say's my loving wife) because I can't game. I guess I really am cranky because she told me to just order another computer. Got to love a woman who accepts that her husband is a gaming junkie.
