Sup everyone?
Old time gamer here looking on building a new PC. My current one is roughly 5 yrs old and is in desperate need to be retired...
I have heard good things about this site so have been bee boppin around. I am kind of out of touch since the last time I built my last PC but this is what I have config'd and am trying if at all possible to tone down to no more than a $2000 system.
I play a few games Planetside, CoD, BF2, EQ2 and going to be purchasing Warhammer Online.
Thanks in advance!

been thinking about so here is the nvidia version:
here you go Ticket# 193494 --- Price: $2380 (To see this build click here) Copy of Specifications: Chassis: Cooler Master HAF 932 Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Interior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Power Supply: 750W Corsair HX (Dual SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition) Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83GHz (1333MHz FSB) (12MB Cache) Motherboard: nVidia 790i Ultra Core 2 Quad (nForce 790i Ultra SLI) (DDR3 Only) System Memory: 4GB DDR3 1333MHz OCZ Card Reader: - No Thanks Hard Drive 1: 500GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Hard Drive 2: - No Thanks Raid Option: - No Thanks Hard Drive 3: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) (LightScribe Edition) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Wireless Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280 1GB (Includes PhysX Technology) TV Tuner: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 2 (Silent Artic Cooling Heat-sink Upgrade (Copper Heatpipes) Internal Lighting: Blizzard Internal Lighting (Red Edition) (Cold Cathode Tubes) Modifications: - No Thanks Boost Processor: Yes, Overclock the processor as much as possible with complete stability Boost Video Card: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Boost Memory: Yes, Overclock memory timings (Includes Memory Fan Kit Installed) Tweak Windows: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) Restore Kit: Digital Storm Specialized Recovery System (DVD Image Based) Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Benchmarking: - No Thanks Install/Test Game: - No Thanks LCD Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks External Storage: - No Thanks Warranty: 3 Year Platinum Care Extended Parts & Labor Warranty same upgrades here, perhaps a veloci Raptor down the road and if you think you gonna add another 280 GTX then you need a minimum of a 860w to get away with it, so now is the time to do that. |

I like DST's 1st suggestion, but in order to bring the cost down to 2000 (if that isn't adjustable a few 100 dollars), I would go with one 4870. The 4870 slightly out performs the 260gtx, you can crossfire it later for less money and new drivers are due out in decemeber, which will supposedly to increase performance quite significantly. However, if you are playing at 1900x1200 or higher, I would recommend going with the 4870x2 right now and upping your budget accordingly.

the system he has listed him self is $2300 so I just followed his lead, I think both my configs in the long run work better then 2 x 4870 or 2 x 260.
but to lower the budget, those are some good suggestions also Edited by DST4ME - 10 Oct 2008 at 4:33pm |

Ok, thanks guys. Im sure with whatever I go for, it will be a serious upgrade from my current system. Dont even want to give specs lol.
With the new Intel processor coming out soon (nov?) How much will that affect the current Quad Processors...price wise?
Does AMD have anything up their sleeve?

AMD does but intel will still be ahead IMO.
can't say how it will effect the prices, cause what ever I say is what I think and not facts and I don't want to mislead you in anyway, but my thinking is that the prices have to go down. |

Went ahead and ordered it. I received a call from a great rep asking me questions about what I wanted. We made a couple of changes from a 680 board to a 780 (to better support 4g of Ram, Vista 64 and the Baracuda. They said to save money, I could use onbaord sound but cmon, I am a dude gimme sound, cant live without a full gaming experience for online gaming.
Was kind of surprised to get a quick response and from someone who was enthusiatic about their job. Good experience thus far.
