I thought before I ordered this machine I would get opinions from the group. I use a couple of programs where more computing power can speed things up - Dragon Naturally speaking and Adobe photshop suite for photo editing. I occasionally play video games and now that I am confined to home, maybe a bit more. I use ti for e-mail, crusing the internet and managing my finances (Quicken). I wanted a machine tha would be visually attractive for my young grandkids. I have dual 30” video monitors.
I worked with a person here at DR and here is what we came up with: Digital Storm Desktop - Config ID 2921347 $6,819.00 $6,819.00 System Configuration:Chassis Model: Aventum X Exterior Finish: Black Metallic Matte Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i9-10920X (12-Core) (Boost Up to 4.6 GHz) Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix X299-E Gaming II (Wi-Fi) (Intel X299 Chipset) (Up to 4x PCI-E Devices) System Memory: 64GB DDR4 3200MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX (Extreme-Performance) Power Supply: 1000W Digital Storm Performance Series (Fully Modular) (80 Plus Gold) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Optical Drive: External USB - Blu-Ray Writer & Player (Blu-Ray 6x) & DVD/CD Writer Storage Set 1: 1x SSD M.2 (1TB Samsung 970 PRO) (NVM Express) (Extreme Performance) Storage Set 2: 1x Storage (3TB Seagate / Toshiba / Hitachi) Storage Set 3: - No Thanks RAID Config: - No Thanks RAID Card: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Graphics Card(s): 1x GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 11GB (VR Ready) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio HPC Processor: - No Thanks Extreme Cooling: H20: HydroLux PRO: Exotic Custom Cooling System (1x Graphics Card + CPU) HydroLux Tubing Style: Flexible Tubing (Requires HydroLux Liquid Cooling System) HydroLux Fluid Color: Red Fluid + Clear Tubing (Requires HydroLux Liquid Cooling System) Cable Management: Premium Cable Management (Strategically Routed & Organized for Airflow) Chassis Fans: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Digital Storm LED Lighting System Airflow Control: Digital Storm Thermal Management Control Board & Software Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: - No Thanks LaserMark: - No Thanks CPU Boost: Stock Factory Turbo Boost Advanced Automatic Overclocking Graphics: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) OS Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 Professional (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: USB Drive - Windows 10 Installation (Format and Clean Install) Virus Protection: Windows Defender Antivirus (Built-in to Windows 10) Office: - No Thanks Mouse Pad: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: - No Thanks Keyboard: - No Thanks Mouse: - No Thanks Branded Gear: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 20-25 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty (3 Year Labor & 1 Year Part Replacement) |

you dont need 970 pro's go down to 970 evo plus, there is barely differense plus the evo plus has a longer warranty. Id switch out the strix with a prime.
not need 64GB of ram either but its your call. As for what you mentioned you do on pc, you really dont need a 2080ti either drop down to a 2070 super. plus you can go down to a 850 power supply Take that saved money and upgrade to a 14 core or new nvidia cards coming out soon |

(means I agree) Good advice. It's possible to get nearly identical performance at a substantial savings from a Ryzen 3900X. Fact. Edited by Cretae - 22 Mar 2020 at 5:49am |

Thanks for the ideas. Regarding waiting for the new nVidia cards...there will likely always be new nVidia cards, so I will just go with the one available. i decided to go with the 14 core processor.

I agree with previous comments. I think an Aventum X is considerable overkill for what you will be using the machine for. I do a lot of digital photo work with Photoshop, produce movies with Vegas Movie Studio and play a demanding flight sim game called "Digital Combat Simulator", on max settings with a 34" 1440P monitor.
All these programs work fine on my Lumos with an Intel i7-9700K, MSI Z390 Gaming Pro Carbon AC, 32GB Corsair Vengeance 3200MHz RAM, Samsung 1TB 970 Evo Plus, EVGA RTX 2070 Super, and a Corsair 850 watt power supply, and an air cooled system. (Also have Corsair magnetic levitation fans). I ordered this system in August 2019 for $2,615 delivered. So, you can get great performance for your needs for way less than $6,819. |

Thanks for the ideas. I am actually not operating on a tight budget and a little extra power might be needed for the future.

This the machine I actually ordered on 3/22/20. Just a slight variation from the one i was considering here.

Is this essential activity under the Covid 19 rules? Is the 20 to 25 day build time realistic? I hate to have to make a payment on something I don't actually have. |

Finally 1 month after the order was accepted, my order has moved from Stage 1. The 20 to 25 business days seems unrealistic but I am in no particular hurry, just so no one gets impatient if they are holding DS to that timetable.

You can't put the Aventum in your lap. Your grandkids will be awed at the way too cool pc their grandpa got. Mine likes to sit on my lap as I game. And in case, it comes shipped freight only in its own pallet. You will need help moving it.

Went from stage 5 to stage 6 in 2 days. DS says in their general write up that it will stay in stage 5 from 5 to 10 days. I am not complaining. I guess I should get ready to receive this beast sometime in the next week.
