I've been occupying the little hobby time I am planning a gaming computer when my work hours drop off to something sane. I guess I'm a little OCD about stuff like this.
Anyway, one of the things I'm concerned with is maintaining the system, which means keeping dust levels inside the case as low as possible, right? With that in mind, the following occurred to me: How about an internal system discharging compressed air either manually, or automatically according to a schedule? Basically how this looks in my head is you go and buy a canister of compressed air, but instead of having to remove case panels and spray around, etc., you plug the canister into something next to the computer, or attached to the outside of the case. This thing it plugs into is in turn connected to a system of air hoses and discharge nozzles inside the case at strategic locations. After your canister is plugged in, you just hit a button every week or whatever, or it automatically discharges according to a schedule or whatever. Also you could position the discharge nozzles inside at the best angles that would otherwise be inaccessible to a handheld canister, especially in a cramped case, and oriented to blow the dust into the air stream of the fans to evacuate it out of the case as efficiently as possible, so you're not just blowing stuff around inside. 1) Is this being done already? 2) Is this completely retarded? I can accept this outcome :P 3) If this is a good idea, or at least one worth investigating, DS is welcome to take it and run with it. <3 Sorry if this is the wrong subforum for this kinda thing. |

yea id go with its a pretty bad idea, 1 you would never be able to hit every angle that you need with medium level pressure that you would need, and 2 even if you could it would fall MILES and MILES away from being cost or effort effecient. plus if it discharged the dust in bursts, you would just have a bunch of piles of dust on the outside of the case, instead of the inside.
best bet here is just to get a closed case like the assassin or similar and use some very good quality dust filters for any intake fans
