This isn't a huge problem, but my new computer doesn't go into sleep mode based on the time I set in the power settings. The screensaver also doesn't come on at it's setting. Anyone have a clue what is causing this? I'm using a USB mouse and unplugged it, but it did not improve the situation.

just to get the obvious out of the way, you were logged in as administrator when creating your power plan, correct?  the power plan was created in the "system settings" pane?  this will change all other plans to automatically adhere to these settings.  can you look up any and all plans saved on your computer by looking in pereferred and additional plans and see what's there?  you might have something overriding the one you want.

try this: in search box type troubleshooting
click view all on the left panel
click power and a new window will popup
follow the on screen instructions.  that should restore your screen saver.

a video driver can be the problem.  try a different driver if the current one is causing the problem.

Off topic, but related.

I don't let my machine 'sleep' or 'hibernate'. It caused more problems than it solved with my wifi capabilities. I would come back to it from a 'sleep' cycles and have to log off / restart it immediately so it just wasn't worth it.

It's now powered down when I'm done for the day.

+2. Its not worth the 1 or 2 minutes saving with pladder drives. Seconds with SSD. Sleep might work for a lot of users, but when it messes up I've seen an OS reinstall is needed.   Thats worse case.

The guilty culprit is the Logitech 3D Extreme joystick which interferes with the power options. Once you disconnect it (USB), power options work as they should. Many are reporting this problem in the MS forums, so I hope they release a fix for Win 10 users.

Nice find and congrats.   Thanks for the feedback.

OS updates always cause their share of weird issues.

First thing I do on any new PC is disable hibernate. Sleep, hibernate... Ew. That's too much space I don't wanna give up... Not to mention I'm a performance whore. Those just slow down your PC over time.
