Guys, the current build that I am thinking of purchasing comes with a 800W Corsair GS  and I am planning on upgrading to the 1050W Corsair Pro Silver 1050HX for an additional $144. Do you guys think this is worth the upgrade?  Here are the specs of the computer I will be purchasing:

i7 3930k overclocked to between 4.0-4.5ghz
ASUS rampage 4 extreme x79 motherboard
16gb ram
GTX580 video card (one card)

For $144, should i Upgrade to the larger power supply?

thats a great power supply. and you're going to need the power for SLI. but those specs are not the 'best bang for your buck'.

The Corsair 800W should be enough to power that system. We do run a PSU load test on the system before it ships to ensure you have enough power. However, if you want to make future upgrades to the system such as a 2nd video card for SLI, it might be a good idea to make the investment now to save money later and time with re-wiring the whole system.

Thanks Alex, I will be going with the larger power supply now so I dont have to worry about it later.

Kane,
if you give us your budget, what you're hoping to do with the system and what resolution your monitor(s) are we can get you a system that will give you the best bang for your buck.

Sneaky George:  my budget is around $3000, I am using an HP 24" monitor with resolution of 1900 x 1200.  I do a lot of multitasking and audio editing, some video editing.  I have debated whether I wanted to go with the 2600k or the 3930k and have decided on the 3930k.   I am looking for more than what I need. My build # is 629960 if you wanted to see the specs that I was going with.  Thanks

based on my knowledge of your needs i believe that this build would give you the best performance for your money. its very similar to mine, which i love, and only max out when im folding or benchmarking.

629964

for your resolution the best bang for your buck are 570's, the 2.5gb version will let you add more monitors. I gave you 16GB of ram since you do editing and stuff. the HAF X gives you the best air flow, and if you want it to be blue, they can order the blue version of it. (thats what i got).

if you really want the 3930k it'll raise the price of your system by about $400, and i dont think you'll see that big of a performance increase.

The 3930k is included in that build that I have mentioned.  I am at about $3000.  Also by the way, in the build you created, I see that you included two 570's in SLI but I am not much of a gamer.  I do play one game actually, Microsoft Flight Simulator X and this game does not take advantage of SLI.  In fact from all the research I have done, SLI is bad for the game.  Anyhow, thanks for the feedback though.
