Hello everyone, as some of you allready know I am upgrading to a third GTX-280 ( I hope DS is charging me the new low price....hint...hint...Nvidia recently has lowered the price on the GTX series depending where U buy it) My question is since I am upgrading my system is there any reason to upgrade the power supply from a thermaltake 1200W to the PC 1200W which is 200 bucks more for some reason or are they both pretty equal?

My corsair HX1000w did it just fine so aslong as you have all the plugs save the $200 or use it to take your girl out to a nice restaurant.

I relize my thermaltake 1200W will power the triple SLI my question is why is the PC 1200W 200 bucks more than my thermaltake 1200W. I was just wondering if the more expensive power supply offered any more performance worth the 200 bucks. They both are 1200W but why is one so much more is it just a brand thing? Or is the PC power supply really that much better?

for one thing I think the pc 1200w is the esa ready so you will pay for that, as far power you should be fine.

ESA stands for Enthusiast System Architecture. It's used to monitor and control your hardware. It's useless and not worth paying.
The two only have a $30 difference on Newegg. PC Power & Cooling has a 12v single rail opposed to Thermaltake's four 12v rails. Just don't worry about it -.- |

well the NVIDIA System Tools is a good tool IMO but like skyR said esa is not worth paying for in any which way, specially if you don't even the app that its suppose to work with
you got a great psu already, stick with it Edited by DST4ME - 21 Dec 2008 at 5:37pm |
