Will a 750W unit be enough if I want to have two 5870's running?

pushing your luck.. yes it would run two stock 5870's with a very mild OCed i7, with minimal fans.... the corsair 1000 watt would be a wise investment for tha setup

Is it difficult to upgrade the power supply on my own or do you think I should contact Digitalstorm and see if they can change my order now? The problem being that my system is is in stage five and it would probably result in a delay in shipping. I won't need the power upgrade initially since I am only going to run one card to start with then plan on an upgrade in the future.

what chip are you running? 920-975? ir 800 series?  900 series needs more power, so if you have the 800 series CPU, and don't plan on overclocking the Graphics cards, you will be ok, even with the 900 CPU's if the overclock is not too high, it still will be in the ok range.

If you have the 900 series CPU with a high overclock, and overclock the snott out of the video cards you will be pushing the power supply past its limits.

I have the 920 with only their stage one overclock. I don't plan on increasing the overclocking beyond that. The graphics card is the 5850 which I plan to upgrade to the 5870 next year at some point.

for a mild 920 OC and a 5850, or a 5870 you are good, 2 5870's it getting up there, and if you overclock everything a lot, then you will be over the edge with 2 5870's
if you are getting a 5850, i would just get another 5850 down the the road... not much difference between the 5870, and 5850.. with a little overclocking the 5850 will match a stock 5870.
