I am 99% certain I am good to add a second 9600GT to run in SLi. I have a Corsair 650W PSU, and there is already a second PCI-E labeled line coming out of it. It looks the same as the one currently plugged into my vid card, so I am assuming it is a 12V rail.
My full specs are below. I am pretty sure 650W with high efficiency is overkill for this addition. Chassis: Antec 900 Power Supply: 650W Corsair HX (Dual SLI Compatible) Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3.00GHz (1333MHz Front Side Bus) (6MB Cache) **OCed to 3.6GHz** Motherboard: NVIDIA 780i Core 2 Quad (Chipset: nForce 780i SLI) System Memory: 4GB DDR2 800MHz OCZ Hard Drive 1: 320GB Western Digital (16MB Cache) (7200 RPM) (SATA) Optical Drive 1: DVD±R/RW/CD-R/RW (DVD Writer 20x / CD-Writer 48x) Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600GT 512MB (Includes PhysX Technology) Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Cooling: Air Cooled Stage 2 (Silent Artic Cooling Heat-sink Upgrade (Copper Heatpipes) Windows OS: Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) (For Enthusiasts) Second, I have been reading/watching tutorials for installing SLi, and it looks like a piece of cake. Notably, there is a video on installing the cards and the SLi bridge over on nVidia's SLi Zone (video #5). Let me know if there are any glaring omissions/mistakes. Thanks! I am in love with my new DSO machine! |

Any other thoughts? Does the SLi video look complete?
Also, do sound cards normally require additional power input? That is another addition I will be making in the future. Thanks. |
