Topic: Prebuild QuestionsPosted: 27 Jun 2009 at 2:20pm |

Hello. This is my first time buying a computer, and I need some help.
It seems like the prebuild Power and Value that is offered at 1808 dollars is exactly what I am looking for. I have a budget of around 1800-2200 dollars, and this seems to be perfect. However, due to my aforementioned inexperience with regards to computers, my own feelings seem to be largely inadequate in assuaging my own fears about buying a high quality computer that will last me for several years in playing the latest games. I would much appreciate your expert advice. Thank you in advance. |

for 1080P you might need 2 GPUs to run games at high settings.
I can config a system for you for about $1900 with 2 GPUs but if you have your heart set on the power and value then go for it, DS has some great systems, prebuild or not ![]()

Ok looks like I made a mistake, for 1900 its with one gpu but in a few month you can drop another 275 in there easy and for cheaper then getting 2 right now, however I'm posting 2 builds, one with 1 gpu and one with 2 gpus so you can see the difference:

Right now they have a special where you can get it for $209.99 Edited by DST4ME - 27 Jun 2009 at 6:05pm |

What if I bought the prebuilt model (it seems to be pretty much the same as your builds except about 200 dollars cheaper), and later, I added in another card?

you can do that also, however I'm not sure what mobo the power and saving is using and also a 285 2GB cost a lot more then a 275 but the difference in performance is like 4 fps and not worth the price.
in short the $200 you are saving now, you will spend more then that to get a second 285. so lets look: my config with 1 x 275 = $1907 now later you add another 275 for $229 and that comes out to $2136 now the prebuild is $1707 with 1 x 285, you go to add another 285 2GB for $402, and that comes out to = $2116 also you will be pushing your psu to run 2 x 285 2G version while the psu can easily run 2 x 275 gtx. its upto you. but the x58 LE that I picked for you, is gonna be better mobo then the one in prebuild. They are showing an XFX X58 motherboard in the configurator now. Could be that one?

DST4Me, is that what you really meant to say? I don't know squat about HDTV, but it that indicates 1080 scan lines, that seems like a relatively low resolution by computer standards. One GTX 260 or certainly one GTX 275 would do the trick. What am I missing?

1080 vertical, he still has 1920 horizontal, if he was at 1600 then yes a 260 or better yet a 275 would run things at high settings, personally I don't even recommend playing games on HDTV

I never realized HDTV's horizontal resolution was that high. Ah, but I see that makes sense with 16:9 aspect ratio.
