Processing Units VS Processing Cores

How many Processing Units are in a  Core?
:O I havent got anyone or anywhere else to ask :)
It just kind of crossed my mind.. I realize ATI cards run up to 1.6k Processing Units.
Whereas Nvidia uses up to the highest 240 Processing Cores.

Or are these the same? If so, Nvidia needs to do some upgrading.
