I am considering a system that would include a dual boot of XP and Vista 64 bit.  While I understand the concept of a dual boot system, I have not had actual experience with such a configuration.

Anyone mind sharing their opinions on the pros & cons of this set up?  I have been told that Service Pack 1 for Vista has been released which addressed a number of issue.  Given that, is consideration of a dual boot system still necessary?

Thanks in advance.

Going with Vista 64 bit, having that XP boot will be a huge advantage. 64 bit still has several issues with certain printers, faxes, copiers, and the like. I myself run a dual boot with XP Pro and Vista Ultimate 64 bit. Which works really well for me. I found that my printer/copier/fax/scanner box didn't have any 64 bit drivers, so I was very happy that I kept my XP boot. Other than printing though, I don't use my XP boot anymore. Vista has been great since the first service pack. (Good before hand too.)

All in all, I'd say it's well worth giving a shot.

i used dual boot mainly for software that wasn't working quite right in vista, its handy sometimes, not only that when i was testing things it gave me two enviroments to do that in,

@Dashuu

you keep XP just for printing? what printer is it?

Before you mock someone, walk a mile in their shoes, then at least your a mile away and have their shoes as well :)
