I'd suggest the Radeon 3870 or 3850 for a budget GPU under $150.
I would lower your processor to Q9300 or Q6600 since the overclock you will be receiving won't be that high.. the higher multiplier on the Q9450 isn't worth $100 more. If you want to achieve a better overclock, upgrade the mobo to a 780i or x38 or x48 and upgrade to 800mhz ram. I'd get rid of the 4gb of ram since it looks like you're on a budget. I am on a budget, your correct. How much RAM would you recommend? And would lowering my processor effect any game play at all?

If you are getting this computer for gaming.
I'd recommend getting: 2GB 800MHz ram Q6600 overclocked 8800 GT |

If you mostly game you can save cash by getting a dual core instead of a quad core, as the majority of games dont use quads yet. Though you wont be as 'futureproofed'. Then again, who knows how long it would take for them to convert anyways. There are many freebie programs out there that let you manually overclock your GPU using slider bars, its extremely easy to do yourself, the only downside is that you have to reset it every time you restart your computer. Luckly they offer 'profiles' where it saves your various settings, which allows you to set up specific overclocks for various games. So if you want that, you can save some extra cash there as well. Though a DS Vid overclock will be a perminate one where you dont have to worry about profiles or resetting and what have you. So basiclaly what you are paying for is the convience. But then again, you dont control how much overclock youll have and you wont have custom overclocks for each game. But hey thats up to you.
With the ram and mobo you wont be able to get a major overclock which I believe warrents using liquid cooling. You can save more money just getting air cooling.
You have one CD drive, so that enhanced air cable option will only get you one cable in your computer, if you think one cable is worth the price youre paying for it, then by all means go with it, you will get extra cables from DS too, but youll only have one cable within your box.
I know DS probably hates me for this, but futuremark's website sells downloadable versions of Vantage for 19.95. I believe DS charges 29 for it. So there is 10 bucks there.
If youre on a budget do you really need to spend 10 bucks on a light for your computer? it has no effect other then bling...

Sunfighter,
Thanks for clarifying about the Enhanced Cable Option. I took it off. Benchmarks off too. Thanks lol. And I put on the Air Cooling option 3. I think I will keep the overclocking and let the experts do it. And the light makes me looking at it reassure me that my PC is sweet! I appreciate your advice it saved me like 200$ Thanks! |
