I just picked up and set up my "Power and Value" system from Digital Storm and it works great...kind of...I just installed the game Prototype.  I love it its AMAZING...except it locks up...when running on High settings on both shadow and graphics.  I haven't tried tweaking with medium or anything yet but I would really expect this system to be able to handle this game...seriously...Sleepy

You're right, it shouldn't. Have you called DS tech support to seek a resolution?

Please take into consideration that that game is HORRIBLY optimized to begin with.  For starters how is your sound working?

Plus did you update your driver?  186.18, my 9600 GSO can run it at high texture, and low shadow details.  (I don't even wanna dare try raising the shadow detail setting, until this game gets optimized better)

At around... a hiccuping 30-50 FPS.  (Actually 20-40 would make more sense aahha)

Right now I'm playing at 1280 x 800 which is the highest it will go.  I also turned down shadow and graphics down to Medium and its working fine now but I think high still should work...Ill try turning down the resolution and puting it back on high.

Try having shadow on low and everything else on high.  Though make sure to see you have the latest driver.  I had an older driver, and it was alot more laggy, than until I set it to 186.18

should be able do to it in the device manager, if i'm not mistaken at least..

I'm not sure on Vista, but on XP ya right click on 'My Computer', hit the Hardware tab and go into Device Manager.. from there either right click that driver and select uninstall or doubleclick the driver and select Uninstall from the Driver tab.

Ohhhkay.  Well there's that method,  But you usually do that under "Add or Remove Program."  And also the program Driver Sweeper.

http://downloads.guru3d.com/Guru3D---Driver-Sweeper-(Setup)_d1655.html  Have that installed.

Which should appear so long as you're under "My Computer"  it should be a tab option somewhere.  From there look for "Nvidia Drivers"  Hit uninstall at that point.

Then when you're prompted to restart your computer, do so and also, hit F8 until you can get to Safe Mode.  When you arrive, run Driver Sweeper, checkbox and "Analyze" for  "NVIDIA - Display".  Then clean whatever pops up.

You officially cleaned whatever leftover files were around from the previous Nvidia Driver.  Now run the installer for the new driver you downloaded, and restart after.

That's what I do each and everytime.  The drivers are designed so that you can just "update" over the previous one, but it's better to be safe than sorry right?

I use the driver sweeper if I'm having driver problems but add/remove programs or ccleaner's uninstall will do it also.

I installed the driver just fine and then tried the game at full force again with no problems...for a while...then just as before it locked up on me.  I then turned the shadow to medium and it ran beautifully.  Can't really see a difference in High and Medium shadow but...meh...same thing right?

P.S Love the game!  WOOT!  Thanks for all the help guys!

Shadows must be a memory hog on the GPU or something.. that's odd still.. glad to see everything's working out though.

Note: Ya know, I've never used the Add/Remove section for driver removal. Not sure why, just generally never viewed it that way. Oh well.. perspective can blind ya sometimes.

Try playing with other games to see if it is the system itself.

However, I doubt it, since we practically triple test every system.

While it's nice to check, in this circumstance, it's nothing to worry bout, Prototype is REALLY buggy on the PC, bad port more or less.
