Topic: PS4 Console Replacement Overwhelmed Posted: 08 Nov 2016 at 9:35am |
Hi everyone! I've been primarily a console gamer and am now ready to return to the PC after more than a decade; I am now completely overwhelmed. After putting faith in the community and multiple cross-referenced reviews, I have settled in on Digital Storm.
Budget: Prefer not to exceed $2500 with wiggle-room for shipping/ taxes. Expectations: Fully replace and shame my PS4, and upcoming "next-gen" PS4 pro, for AAA gaming at high graphic settings played at not less than 60fps. Specifically-- Fallout 4 and Skyrim, with tons of mods, GTA V and Mass Effect: Andromeda upon release. Not considering multiple monitors. I like the idea of upgrading 4k gaming in the future. Usage: Mostly AAA single-player games or MMOs played on a single screen. A Samsung 55" 4K Ultra HD TV (Model UN55KS8000FXZA to be exact). Prefer VR Ready at playable settings (not minimal settings). Would like to keep for 5 years. Special Needs: Noise is not a huge issue (how loud can it be?). Space/size of case is not an issue. Hard drive space is not a huge issue as I tend to play the same game over and over and over. I game on the couch and plan to use this as a full console replacement; will use Apple laptop for music and casual surfing; will use work computers for work. I have a Rottweiler that manages to get hair in everything-- concerned about hair in tower. I'm extraordinarily computer illiterate and mechanically inept; tend to break delicate things. Need low (very low) maintenance/ high payoff recommendation. Saved Ticket #: None, but considering default "best" of either Bolt 3 or Apollo. Is there any reason to wait: Special offers, new or imminent product releases, etc? Should I consider two graphic cards? Are there insurmountable, operator-level maintenance needs, cooling system tweaking or other similar-smart-guy things? Are my expectations in line with my budget? I apologize upfront for the entirety of my PC ignorance. |

But, that kicks you way over budget. A single 1080 will certainly play well on a 4K, but not max graphics with high frames. I left in the 1000 watt psu in case you go sli. If not, a 750watt psu will do it. An 850 watt for sli will work, but I like more headroom. For strictly gaming, an I5 -6600k is great, but the I7 is better for multi tasking, productivity etc, but for the budget, the I5 will do it. No need to wait, you'll never buy if you do. The H100i cooler is zero maintenance. The Bolt doesn't allow for sli, and the Apollo gives you more room for cooling, expansion anyways. Hope this helps and let us know.
