We hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break. Our team is in the process of reviewing a complete change from our traditional forums to Discord. This would allow users to have more active discussions and create a stronger community bond.

Let us know your thoughts and suggestions.

Also, we would need assistance with moderators, we are planning to offer current active moderators an opportunity to assist us also on Discord.

I haven't used Discord before. However, I'll happily follow the DS Forum wherever it goes. I think some modernization would likely be helpful. Right now it's difficult to post links and photos. I'm guessing that Discord would make this easier. Anyway, I'm looking forward seeing where this leads.

Alex.. wonderful news! Whatever we need to do to help DS grow and grow!

I have a working knowledge of the user side of Discord, been on and off for a few years with a bunch of different groups and games (about 27 server groups). I'd be willing to help with whatever you all decide.

Really excited about the forward progress with DS!

My gaming group uses Discord. I haven't been on it for awhile since I handed all our server management over to others. I can say that Discord is very nice, lots of great features. There is a bit of a learning curve, nothing drastic and since Snaike is well versed in it, as others probably are too, I don't see any issues and only great things ahead. Good news indeed!

No, hoserator. Each 'server' (which Digital Storm will acquiring) act as it's own page. Yes, there are rooms within that server that you can use as voice chat which can be very helpful at times.

But the main communication is written. One of the good parts is that it is a scrolling conversation. If there is a General Discussion lobby such as this we can all go there and chat with each other, both in open and direct communications.

So, to alleviate your concern, Discord has a chat feature to allow direct communication but it is not necessary to use it.

Minor point to consider. Right now I can visit the Digital Storm page and forums whenever I want...at work or at home. Discord is sometimes blocked (like youtube) in different workplaces. I know this will sound crazy to people, but workplaces do block certain apps, domains, and websites by policy. I am familiar with Discord...more for chat than for forums. I will follow DS wherever it moves the forums.

Confused

Not really. In my experience/knowledge, there's no remote control, it's simply sharing your PC's video and audio (i.e., mic) -- similar but less featured to Zoom screen sharing. In other words, it's if you want to demonstrate/present something live.

I have not been able to open an account. I get to the Verification page, enter an email address, create a new password get the code but nowhere to place to open the account. I suspect I am the one creating the issue but...no account. I was afraid this was going to happen. 
I will try to get a guru to open it for me in the future.

bye bye DS! Can't believe it's over. I enjoyed being here and the "friends" I have made.

Try creating a Discord account first. Then click on the link that DS sent you, and login using the same account that you just created. I bet that will work.
