Hey guys,
After much research and deliberation, I pulled the trigger on my new Digital Storm Slade.  I'm excited to get back to having a nice, fast gaming PC.  My current system is a Hypersonic gaming PC that is over 10 YEARS OLD!  Hypersonic was another boutique gaming PC that has since gone under.  The PC still works fairly well, but is as slow as molasses and can't play any new games at all.  After getting married, settling down and having 2 kids, I'm ready to reclaim some free time and get back into some PC gaming, as well as having a nice new system to do some work on...so you can understand my excitement on gettting my new rig.  Anyway, here's the configuration:

System Configuration:

Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Corsair Obsidian 550D Exterior

Finish: - Standard Factory Finish

Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish

Processor: Intel Core i7 3770K 3.50 GHz (Unlocked CPU) (Quad Core)

Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 (Intel Z77 Chipset)

System Memory: 16GB DDR3 1866MHz Corsair Dominator Platinum DHX (Extreme-Performance)

Power Supply: 1050W Corsair Pro Silver 1050HX (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible)

Expansion Bay: Internal Digital Media Card Reader (Black)

Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (240GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Neutron GTX Series) (SATA 6Gbps)

Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (2TB Western Digital (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) (SATA 6Gbps)

Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: 1x (60GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Accelerator Series)

Optical Drive 1: Blu-Ray & DVD Writer/Reader (Burn + Play Blu-Ray & DVDs) (12x BD-R)

Video Card(s): 1x EVGA GeForce GTX 670 FTW+ 4GB

Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio

Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 1: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO (High Performance Cooler)

Selected Chassis Airflow: Upgrade All Fans to Corsair Airflow 120mm Performance Edition (Up to 6 Fans)

Noise Reduction: Noise Suppression Package Stage 1 (Optimized Airflow & Fan Speeds Only)

CPU Boost: Stage 1: Overclock CPU 4.0GHz to 4.4GHz

Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional (64-Bit Edition)

Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows CD)

Game: FREE NVIDIA Bundle - Assassins Creed III (Digital Download Code for all GeForce GTX 600 Series)

Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 3 Year Limited Warranty

Let me know what you think.  Also, can any of you gamers out there suggest some good games to get me started out with?  I'm completely clueless as to what's hot right now, but was a big fan of the popular first-person shooters back in the day (Call Of Duty, Half-Life, Unreal, etc.).  Any advice would be appreciated.  Thanks and looking forward to participating in a great community!

Joe

Hey Joe, sounds like you and I are in the same boat. I built in Alien Ware around 2002. Had 3 kids who have hijacked the xbox. I too am ready to get back to some serious PC gaming. I plan to pull the trigger in a few weeks and am currently experimenting with configs. A lot has changed since my last build. No advice from me thats for sure. I will follow to see what the experts have to say. Good luck
