So I watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyC3lZ5WFMk&feature=g-high-u and got the impression that pull is actually better because it creates a lot less problems with cleaning dust and dosnt affect performance by a large margin. Now, my previous DS computer had radiators with push configuration and it was a real mess to clean up the radiators. The question: is there any specific reason why DS and other builders use the push configuration instead of pull?
Or the video was worng and pull is actually alot worse performance wise? |

Now this is a interesting topic.
I have no data or links to prove my point, A PULL config would also work, but a slower fan with thinner blades would be needed so as not to create alot of turbulence through the core. Turbulence for me equals inefficiency equals less performance. So, Pull might be a bit quieter but PUSH allows more airflow. PULL allows the rad to be cleaned on the outside easier, with no fan in the way, but since you should blow air through the whole core anyways for a thorough cleaning, then it doesn't matter. In the end, its probably all about equal, with either working within a couple of dgrees of cooling. Edited by bprat22 - 07 Dec 2012 at 7:27am |

This is always an interesting topic to discuss. I'll try to get our DS Unlocked team to make an article/video on this.

Well I don't know, but for most users (especially those that look after their PC) pull might be better even if it is 2-3 celsius higher. Unscrewing radiator and then unscrewing each fan to clean the radiator takes a long time and sometimes you need to drain the loop to do it :( . I think DS should add the option for push/pull in the configurator (with info ofc).
Edit: Saw what Alex posted, thanks for attention, I hope atleast some users will find it useful .Edited by Nebidimka - 07 Dec 2012 at 10:08am |
