ASUS' leaked Z690 PCIe Q-RELEASE feature is a Godsend | OC3D
The official word: ASUS 600-series motherboard PCIe Q-Release function - Introduction | ASUS Also available on many AM5-based motherboards. Unless fundamentally flawed and unreliable, "godsend" is probably not an exaggeration. Personal take: I've been trying a few PC reconfigurations recently. One of the most blatant hassles has been the PCIE slot latch. A mechanism left deep in a chasm of towering SSD, GPU, and other heatsinks. ![]() There's no way to fit my thumb (or any finger) in there. Additionally, removing the SSD heatsink is not much, if any, solution as it contains an LED wired to the motherboard and removal doesn't provide comfortable access to the latch anyway. Only after a lot of finagling, card wiggling and various non-metalic, slim tools have I been able to remove a graphics card. Ultimately, if you replace/swap graphics cards more than once or twice during a PC's lifespan, this is a very compelling/attractive feature with lots of value (i.e., time and effort saved). Quite frankly, it is a reason I am considering upgrading to a new platform. Edited by MrCheetah - 27 Jan 2023 at 12:13pm |

Nice feature. With a Noctua, you really have to reach in to push that little sucker. Took them a while to figure something out to make it easier to remove and replace gpus. Very frustrating at times. lol
