I have been looking for a definitive answer but have not been able to find one. I am aware both are amazing options, but what is the best? I want to play Crysis on Ultra high at 1920 x 1080 or something very close. I know at those settings every FPS counts, which will serve me the best in games?

3 x 275 is what you want, they will give you over 60 fps which is what you want

crysis is more cpu bound, I see tri sli doing 74 fps, you can't get any better then that, but not at ultra high, at ultra high you won't get 60 fps no matter what you use.

at 2x MSAA with quad sli you will get around 55-60 fps, tri sli 275 around 60-65 fps and tri sli 285 around 65-70 fps at best.

the image does not state what cpu, what cpu speed, what drivers, or what setting

ok I see you edited and posted the link so we got a 920 at 3.8 which is great but the drivers are old.

new drivers will give better performance, but with crysis you can get only so many fps.

Here is the specs of this benchmark:

Test System Setup

Processor(s): Intel i7 920 @ 3.8GHz (190MHz x 20)

Cooling: Noctua NH-U12P (Supplied by Noctua)

Motherboard(s): GIGABYTE EX58-UD5 (Supplied by GIGABYTE)

Memory: 3 X 2GB OCZ Technology PC-12800 DDR-3 8-8-8-24 (OCZ3G1600LV6GK)

Hard Disk(s): Western Digital 300GB Velicorapter (Supplied by Western Digital)

Operating System: Windows Vista SP1 64-Bit

Drivers: Forceware 181.20

And all I thought a min of 30 FPS is considered fine.

30 FPS and under: very limited gameplay

30-40 FPS: average yet very playable

40-60 FPS: good gameplay

60 FPS and higher: best possible gameplay

I am pretty sure their definiton of High is the game's preset called "High" and I am unfamiliar what AA is on that preset but I assume either none, 2 , or 4 max.

I assume they are using a Crysis Benchmark, so I do not know what level.

Also, my question is still what is better, tri 285 or quad 295?

I said 3 x 275 cause results will be very very close to 285, I don't have a tri sli chart to show you side by side but here they are as singles next to each other:

Crysis WARHEAD:

now that is at Anti-Aliasing 2x MSAA and ambush level.

to answer your question its difficult, cause I'm not sure with new drivers who does better.

best bang for your buck is 3 x 275

otherwise I think 3 x 285 in crisis at your resolution of 1900 x 1200 will do best but we are talking only a few fps here but a much higher price.

hope that helps

some info on current drivers:

Up to 22% performance increase in Crysis: Warhead with antialiasing enabled

so you can expect around 13 - 15 fps on top of what I said earlier if nvidia's claim is right, which was:

at 2x MSAA with quad sli you will get around 55-60 fps, tri sli 275 around 60-65 fps and tri sli 285 around 65-70 fps at best.

nah I gave you what you can expect with Tri sli 275, 285 and quad sli 285, if you notice the quad would do the worst.

hope all that helped, I'm guessing you going with Tri sli 285?
