Not actually sure if this is in the right section. Could a noctua keep an oc i7-930 below 80c under full load? This is also assuming i have a well ventilated case and assuming the room is 70-80 degrees

ha, yes
you didnt say overclocked.. so i assume you mean stock.. i bet it would be close to 65c with stock settings and real world "load"

matters the CPU but usually up to 3.6Ghz-3.8Ghz you will be able to keep in that temp range, stock I got about 55C max under real world load.. prime95.

Thx for the info. I'd been looking around at different air based coolers and I saw that the noctua D14 was renowned as a great cooler. I'm not a big fan of water cooling simply because the cheaper ones are inferior to some fans and the expensive ones cost an arm and a leg.
