In the task bar.........lil old icon says "safely remove hardware" it lists one of my dvd drives and my harddrives. What the heck made this show up? If I want to safley remove those things wouldnt I just turn the power off to do that? How do I make this thing go away?
Mad thanks to Kelly/ Dave and others who have been dealing with my seeming multitude of problems.............I know yall busy with everything.........when I get my system up to par Ill be looking for yous guys on yer servers.................

Presumably you have SATA hard drives. These are "hot swapable". The BIOS, by default, treats them as removable drives, although it is pretty unlikely that you'd ever remove one from a running computer, and if you pulled the boot drive it would probably

SATA devices are consider Hot swappable hence they will show up in the Safely Remove Hardware. You can hide the icon completely by going to Taskbar, Properties, Notification Area and customize. The drawback about this method is when you plug in a usb device, for example, the Safely Remove Icon won't show up anymore. What you can do is download the program USB Safely remove (trial) and it will hide any devices you want to and not the icon : http://www.usbsafelyremove.com/index.html
They use to send you the Key for the Full version if you tried the app out and write a review on one the major websites like Cnet,....That's how i get my full version but i think they stop doing that. There's a reg hack for WinXP but none for Vista yet. Edited by commast - 13 Nov 2007 at 1:29am |

Window won't allow you to remove the boot drive when it's in use. Trust me, i know because i tried that the first time i saw the icon The d$$$ thing will let you remove other drives though, almost had a heart attack when i removed my D drive from the Safely Remove hardware and it just disappeared from my system !!! Had to do a reboot to get it back ![]() Edited by commast - 13 Nov 2007 at 1:33am |
