I wanted to upgrade my computer from 8 GB RAM to 24 GB RAM, but my computer is only picking up 4 GB now. I am a total tech noob (I did make sure the DDR was the same) so does it have to be Digital Storm brand like the first 8 GB? Do the RAM sticks have to be in a specific order? I bought a GSkill Ripjaws (DDR4) if that helps. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Welcome to the forums ItsGuitarDude!

Your DS RAM will have a set of RAM timing numbers you should also try to match, regardless of brand. Several forum members have recommended the RAM tool on the Crucial web site...scans your system and will identify the RAM type and timings you can use...
Then you can search Newegg or elsewhere to find sets that will work in your rig.

"only picking up 4 GB now" ... is confusing to me. Do you mean that your computer can only use 4Gb out of 8GB? Or you're only getting 4Gb more?

I have 8 GB installed right now, and it is only showing that I have 4 GB. So I guess I have two problems.

Perhaps The Smart Guys® can chime in and tell us why that would happen? My thoughts are that RAM is usually sectored in "pairs" and one of the 4GB sticks being used is either not seated or has failed. But again, I'm deferring to them to tell us why that would be.
