Greeting!

I just wanted to make a post to gather a bit more information about potential GPU delays that might affect my order.

Yesterday, I had placed an order for a Custom Lumos system with an RTX 3080 and was worried that there might not be any in stock. I had spoken with a customer service representative using the live chat feature on the Digital Storm website and was told that there was a significant delay on the RTX 3080s and that it would take till late January to February for them to come in. This would result in me having to wait potentially 2-3 months for my system to which I would prefer not to wait that long.

I wanted to confirm if this was true. I don't expect to receive my system right after I just placed the order, as I know delays and COVID has made things very difficult this year, but this information would be great to know!

I will provide my system configuration below. If there any other delays in parts relevant to my system then it would also be nice to know about those too!

There is a significant delay because of the RTX 3080 scarcity. Most are waiting on average around 2 mos. for their build to ship. The GPUs come in small batches and NOT as frequently as DS would like. Lots of folks in line, waiting their turn for a card to be assigned to their build. It would not matter where you went to have a PC built for you, nor would it matter if you tried to buy one yourself.

So if you order, it will take a couple of mos. if not a tad longer for your PC to ship.

Hi,

I don't see your forum account attached to an order. However, RTX 3080 availability is greater now. and it should not take more than 1.5 months to ship depending on when you ordered.

Yeah, I literally ordered my system 2 days ago, so there definitely will be a wait. I just wanted to know the situation about the GPU cards, thanks!

What Nav is referring to is that in order to get the "Verified Customer" badge your email address for the forums and your email address for your order must match exactly. (Case sensitive, like a password.)

If you have done this, then they can look at your forum's presence and go directly to your order.

The SSD you have selected for drive 1 is a SATA drive. The M.2 NVMe drives are 5 times faster. They are cards the size of a small pocket comb that plug into the front of the motherboard. No wires or cables. They directly access the PCIe bus like a video card. One of those in either the Samsung or Seagate flavor will be a game-changer for everything you do from your OS.

Plenty of time to change that if you'd like.

Ah, thank you for the great advice! I actually already sent an email to Alex yesterday (Wasn't sure who to contact) to switch the 1TB Samsung 860 Evo in my build to a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo. In fact, I did this while reading your advice to others about changing their drive 1 SATA drive to NVMe, so thanks again!

Quick question, if I make additions or changes to the components of my order will my order confirmation ID change to reflect this or not? Also, if I do end up making additions or changes, will I be able to receive a new order summary email to kero track of my changes?

Oh and if I do make changes, can I pay for them using a different payment method than the one I originally used to purchase the system before the changes?

You order number remains the same. Don't remember if you get a new confirmation but I believe so.

Hi Treat350,

I made a change to my order today by phone. They sent me an updated invoice. Same invoice number. My biggest question is about what this does to my place in the queue. I have been at stage 1 since Thanksgiving. Does this put me back at the end of the queue? The CS Rep said "In a way." Not sure what that means. :)

I wanted to pay the remaining balance by cc but she said I needed to make the payment via PayPal because that was how the rest of my order was paid for. You do that by logging into the DS website. It has a button to pay your remaining balance. I made the payment but the website returned an error. I was charged. Called back and they are escalating to management.

So my swapping out the GTX 1650 for a RTX 3080 is probably not going to get me my rig any sooner. Thanks for the clarification. :)

I'm having the exact same problem right now. Paid the balance for my additions using Paypal and an error message popped up after the payment went through. The payment did go through but I still have the outstanding balance connected to my digital storm order ID.

I was contacted by John ([email protected]) through email to pay my outstanding balance, so I just send back another email to him outlining my problems.

Hopefully, this gets sorted out since the payment went through but the DS website still saying I haven't paid when I have.

I have been waiting for nearly a month without any updates or status changes..

I understand there was holidays and whatnot,
I expected it to take a while, and understand theres delays for HW, GPU (RTX 3080 in my case).. I have been enqueue for a while now.

Tried to call and waited 15 minutes to get an automated message that no one can take my call and please submit an online help request.

Bro, I just want to know my 4,000 PC is actually on its way and an estimate to how long it will take? I have already been waiting 2.5 months

Yeah, that is a really long wait. I purchased my $3200 PC around December 11th and got it a few days ago on January 8th so around a month. My build was a custom lumos with an RTX 3080 Founders Edition and an Intel i9-10800k because I didn't want to wait for the Ryzen CPUs.

I kept in regular contact with Alex from Digital Storm and I suggest you do too. Definitely felt like it helped.

Along those lines, super shoutout to Alex cause I was stuck on Stage 5 for like 10 days and he was able to get the team to ship it sooner. Awesome guy.

So receiving your PC in a month that's ridiculously quick in comparison since I purchased mine 2 weeks before yours lol.

Here is exactly my concern..Original order placed dec 16th and im in stage one for almost a month with very similar specs and this guy gets his pc in what seems like 3-4 weeks??? What am i missing here??
