Hi everyone, having a crappy day (still in the stock marketWink) My question is I have all my music on an external HD and want to copy it to one of my new HDs. Do U lose any quality in the music file when U copy it U know like how U do with a copy of a copy. I have like 5000 songs I would like to copy unless it loses quality when U do that. Thanks, Guy Preston

Wait, did you say free music?

Those sites are under heavy fire from a lot of agencies, including pirate bay (being the most dangerous one to visit atm).

Theres no free music! You upload/download copyrighted material at your own risk!

If you do decide to go into this, i advise looking into PG and similar type of programs.

PS: if you have a router you can always claim *somebody* else is using your connection because you broadcast an unsecured network.

Just use Foobar, or another music software and rip them as FLAC's and you should be fine. And add me on MSN [email protected] I can help you out.

Ya I have my music on an external and wanted to copy it to my new system not just move it but COPY it. Ya I figured the free music would be stopped sooner or later. I got most of my stuff a long time ago from "audiogalaxy" but more recently from 360share pro I think was the name I cant remember but the price has come down alot also to buy music. So I guess I can afford to buy its better quality anyways. Thanks

ok, copy it.

you can do this 2 ways.

we can clone the HDDs,

or you can just drag and drop or use the move feature of the context menu.

If you can clone it would be much faster I think.

Digital files are able to be reproduced an infinite number of times, byte for byte.

You will never degrade the quality of a song from copying it too much unless you're using analog devices, like a tape player.

As for free music, don't believe the above posters when it comes to "no free music". There is plenty of good music that falls under the Creative Commons Licenses, which can be downloaded -- legally, might I add, for free.

Anywho, I can't go more indepth, since I have to run out of the door, but I suggest .FLAC like Chris said. Lossless music files, unlike an MP3, which will never sound as good as the real thing on a really good set of speakers.
