Hello, I just received my level 4 Lynx yesterday after previously using a level 1 Lynx which I have now given to a family member to use. The level one Lynx had come with 500 GB of storage and also a terabyte of storage on another drive, so with this computer being much more expensive and of the same kind I figured it would have more, or at least the same amount of space. This computer instead has much less space (about 500 GB less). I was just curious as to how this occurred and if this storage is something that I can buy separately for my computer. Obviously, I don't know much about computers but was just hoping to have a bit more space on it.

Do you recall the configuration #?

Both versions of the Lynx (Best Sellers & Custom Order) have 4 levels of machine. In both cases the 4th, or "Ultimate" level of the Lynx, comes standard with the 1TB M.2 SSD storage.

Also, the level 1 lynx with the extra storage was added on in the configurator as the 1TB is not included in the base model, AFAIK.

I assume you have the 1TB of DS M.2 Performance Series. You were not gypped. This SSD is about 4 times faster than your previous 500GB SSD (assuming it WAS an SSD), and about 12-15 times faster than your mechanical hard drive. Instead of being a SATA drive, it is an NVMe SSD which runs on the PCIe bus like your video card. NVMe stands for NonVolatile Memory express. PCIe stands for Peripheral Component Interconnect express. They represent a large performance enhancement for your new rig when used in tandem. The extra cost there plus the magnificent GPU meant extra storage had to be cut.

It is not very difficult to add storage. Since you already have high performance from your primary "C" drive, you should be quite pleased with adding a SATA SSD for more storage in the future. These come in 2.5" drives with no moving parts inside. SSD means Solid State Drive.

If you can access the back of your rig, behind the motherboard, there may be one or two 2.5" plastic "cages" or holders for extra SSDs. There should also be some wiring back there to supply power and connect to the SATA interface on the front of your motherboard. They will be bundled together with a cable tie or two. Check out some YouTube videos to see details.

If this appears too daunting to you, it's routine for a computer shop or Best Buy's Geek Squad to install for you. You may have friends you don't have any idea could help you with this as well!

Your computer gaming experience just took an enormous leap forward, beyond your expectations. ENJOY!

Wow, I completely misread the original post... I understood it to say that the new machine had only 500Gb... I have no excuse except a severe caffeine deficiency at that time.
