question about the rtx 3080

I'm considering on getting the rtx 3080 but I don't know if my MD and cpu is strong enough for it.

my MD is: asus prime x470-pro


and my cpu is: ryzen 7 2700x


will i nee to upgrade either of them for the 3080?

Quite likely it depends more upon the game in question rather than an overall capability. Look to benchmarks for the games you play. Nvidia is not stupid. They want their products to sell to as many people as possible. The 2700X is not nearly obsolete by any stretch.

The 3070 is stronger than a 2080 Ti. If you aren't suddenly going high fps 4k, you won't need a 3080. It's 2x stronger than a 2080 SUPER.

well you see, I'm still quite new to pc and I've been wanting to switch from console. I play almost anything, rpg, multiplayer, mmo, but when I play FFXV with my rtx 2070 with max settings my frames drop to like 30 to 50. games like that I want to play in ultra setting and still have good fps, and I see that the 3080 is cheaper then the 2080ti that I wanted

What is the resolution of the monitor? The 2070 is a good card for thinking of upgrading so soon.

my monitor is a 27 inch msi 240hz, and my frames still drop when I play AAA titles like ffxv at ultra settings, by a lot
