hi there!
I'm looking to purchase a super tricked out gaming system... I've been pricing them all week at different retailers and I must say you guys seem to have the lowest price and best configuration customization.
Basically this is what I'm going after:
CPU: Intel Quad Core 3.33mgz (overclocked one)
GPU: 2 x evga 8800 ultra's
Cooling: Liquid cooling on CPU and GPU
RAID 0: 2 x WD 150 gig raptors
PSU: Thermaltake 1000 WAT
Vista Ultimate 64 bit edition
My only concern here is the quad core... I really want the best of the best but I'm wondering if the quad will actually give me better performance than using a core 2 duo that's overclocked... also, I noticed that you don't have the quad AMD FX-74 on the cpu comparision chart. I was also thinking about this solution but its actually more money than the Intel one...which I thought was interesting as well. I'm mainly going to be using my system for gaming and every day general use... so, I'm wondering if the games out there will be actually utilizing the quad core in the near future.
Any insight is appreciated... Based on my customizations the intel box will cost me 5,200 bucks and the AMD box would be 5,400.

I suggest you go with a Intel Quad-Core system. Since your budget is in the high-end area, I suggest you go with the QX6850 because it will be great for overclocking (It has the G0 core), we can push it to 3.6GHz. Games will also take advantage of all four cores over time as well.

That was a fast response! :) And thanks.
If I order it online, will you overclock it to 3.6 automatically or is there an option for that in the config list that I'm missing?
Last question: regarding the AMD vs. Intel does the quad AMD stack up to the Intel? I've always been an AMD person as I'm running a FX62 dual core with Crossfire at the moment.

Intel Core 2 blows away any AMD processor on the market at the moment.

I dunno I've seen AMD systems out perform an Intel... I still would like to see the AMD Quad FX74 on the comparison chart.

nice review. Even the low-end Intel CPUs dominate the high-end AMD's |

Thanks for the article...very interesting... guess it depends what you're playing... and the resolution etc... some of the games have AMD neck and neck with the intel.
