Thinking of getting a new apollo but waiting for the nonreference/discounts from DS.

Meanwhile I'd like to ask since I don't know any better.

Since this is the first time my computer buying time = release of new cards so me able to buy the time of the line (1080) is definitely something I want to pursue in terms of "future proofing". I know i know, you can't future proof, but you know what i mean, getting the best now so I can delay upgrading as long as i can. (i'll have you know, I am still running my ATI 5870 since 2010, granted I have to RMA for another with DS once in 2012, but I'm still using 5870 lol)

But i've been reading more and more than unless I'm running 1440 or something I don't need it. So just want to ask here once and for all.

Simplicity sake, let's say I am currently using 2x U2415 IPS monitor from Dell. I don't do any photo editing, just Play graphic intensive games like Doom and web surfing.

Not sure about VR at all but i think 1070 can do VR too?

A side question is, anything above a 24 inch for gaming is too big right? so meaning if i run 24 inch only, there's no way I'll be running 1440 rite? so meaning no need for 1080 at all?

thanks...more questions probably later lol

Some confusion:

Size of your monitor is dependent on your budget/needs/and resolution.

so if you want a 30" monitor then you get a 30" monitor for gaming there is no such thing as a monitor being too big for gaming.

as for 1440p on a 24" most likely that will not happen on one 24" monitor.

You say you have two 24" dell monitors? If yes and you use both of them together (surround) where the image is spread between 2 monitors like this then a 1080 would do a good job, but if you are gaming only on one monitor then no the 1080 is not needed.

1070 is vr ready

Hi there, sorry for the confusion.

I only game on one monitor while watching YouTube on the other lol.

I don't think gaming on a more it or larger than 24inch is optimal unless I sit farther n farther away lol.

So with that in mind looks like 1070 is the best choice then?

For single 1080p monitor the gtx 1070 should do it.
